Thanks for setting up the survey, sarab! I second the screen capture route!
-
Hey there, yeah, e-mail for both. I sincerely woke up today with a bad feeling, hence my calling CUNY. Oh shwell!
-
Thanks, sarab! You're so kind. I keep having to remind myself that I have a great option for an MA. I sincerely hope everyone else is in good spirits!
-
Rejected from Northwestern! Just waiting on my CUNY rejection to start my wait on my waitlist programs.
-
Just received my expected official rejection from Stanford!
-
For anyone else still waiting on CUNY, I have some non-news for you: I called anthropology for an application status and was transferred to the admissions department; the admissions department had no decision recorded for me and offered to transfer me to anthropology. So yeah, non-news. Or, immediately interpreting this as a rejection since anthropology offered so quickly to transfer me to admissions.
-
That's fantastic news, strudelle! Congrats! : )

That's good to hear! I'm definitely going to communicate with the DGS sometime this week and work something out. My offer includes funding, so I'd absolutely understand if they'd want to know as soon as possible... magiaepasta, let me know how things turn out for you if you request an extension.
-
Yeah, I immediately stressed when I saw their requested deadline. I'm pretty positive I'll be asking for an extension...
-
I can't remember if I've mentioned it, but I found out I'm depending on a single, specific person to decline their offer at UW. I have a good shot, right? *nervous laugh* *implodes* Any other waitlisted folk hear any news? My top choice MA program wants to hear from me by the middle of this month, but I suspect I won't hear back from all my schools until the veeery last minute...
-
Waiting it out sucks! In the meantime, let's write some haikai.

To the person waitlisted at San Diego State: I will most likely be turning down my offer by the end of this week. Same goes for my Portland State offer! Hopefully that helps you out!
-
You could be right! As for paying my own expenses, I wouldn't be willing to do that... I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't before I started this whole venture. As much as I didn't want to, I'd probably pump out the MA and try again in a couple of years. It's beginning to look like that will happen.
-
Ahh, okay. Such a bummer! Thanks for the information though! Still haven't heard anything.
-
Also, congrats on the wait list, and thank you for the information!
-
Thanks for the congrats, everyone! And sarab, did they say if that was for all subfields? After seeing last year's cohort size, I'm so shocked to hear only 13 offers were made. :(
-
Thank you thank you! <3 I really needed this bit of good news today.

Just got an acceptance e-mail for UMass-Boston, Historical Archaeology MA. My jaw dropped when I saw the funding package--definitely did not expect to see exceptional or even decent funding for an MA program. If I end up having to go the MA route, I will definitely be going there. Stunned.

The most recent acceptance said notification via "other." So ambiguous!
-
Ooof, those CUNY acceptances are making me nervous. Congrats to whoever you are!
-
Man, I wish my POI said that to me. Would've saved me a whole lot of time, energy, and monies. I could say a few other things right now, but I'll be nice.

Yeah, I'm thinking it must be the anthro department... Like Forsaken in LA, I tried contacting them several times (e-mail and phone), both in December and January, and received no response. Since I provided my unofficial transcripts via PDF, my application has been marked for review, so I hadn't been terribly concerned about the "official receipt" status. But with my impending rejection on the horizon, I feel the least they could've done was update my application. I put a lot of time and money--of which I have very little--into their application and feel a little disrespected by their inability to update my page or even respond. But honestly it's okay! I'm trying to not dwell on how much I spent applying; I am trying to accept the total costs as a necessary step to get to where I want to be.
-
Anyone else feel a little put off by the fact that Stanford hasn't adjusted application status pages to reflect receipt of transcripts? I feel like I just threw my application fee ($125) plus the costs of two copies of each of my transcripts ($gadzooks) right in the trash. Happy thoughts.

Thanks for the information, bellabean, and good luck everyone else! I've gotta say, it'd be pretty neat if some of us ended up at the same school together. : )

Has anyone else here contacted their waitlist departments for more information? After reading some other forums, I did, and for one school, I actually got some news. I'm not off the waitlist, but I'm depending on literally one specific person to decline so I may be granted a spot in the program. Has this news helped me or stressed me out even more? Hard to say.
