  1. My safety schools were places where I knew I was more likely to get funding but had more generalized MPH programs. I live in the SE and CDC friends were big proponents of both UGA and UAB, saying that former CDC folks like to teach there (close to home but away from the city). Those were my safety picks... but they didn't offer the global epi combination or the proximity to epi jobs that I wanted and therefore I didn't end up choosing either of them.
  2. I don't think my FPA has acknowledged my existence since the interview. I'm happy you all keep me in the loop!
  3. I'd be happy with a text message or post-it.
  4. Ahh!!! I have a thesis to write! I wouldn't put it past countries to do whatever they wanted in addition to the generic email from Fulbright.T Pain said his letter came from Brussels, while the emails are supposed to come from the main Fulbright office, right? Calm down folks. Why are we casting shadows? I don't think this is the first time things haven't run exactly according to plan... Nope, not. Plus last year I believe someone got notice in Feb (22?). Counting to 10 and then going back to SAS and way too many variables to comprehend.
  5. I would love to see the results from this project!
  6. Woohoo! Congrats T Pain!!! Did the white envelope scare you? Or did its weight calm your fears?
  7. It looks like the Baltics always come about the same time... late. But I'm hoping this concept of notifiying people through email has extended further than the couple countries mentioned earlier and maybe we'll get lucky and hear before late April. Otherwise I'm planning on living vicariously through everyone else too!
  8. Hey all, I added tabs on the current spreadsheet with the spreadsheets from previous years so you don't have go looking for them (if you're like me and always forget to bookmark them). ... can't wait to stop wondering.
  9. Crazy! I hope this is the trend of the Fulbright season... early notifications! Here's to wishful thinking.

  11. You can download a copy of it and order it as you want. But if every person wants to organize the community version to their own liking, it could cause problems. You just click (right?) on the column you want to sort by and sort (a to z or z to a). I created the sheet and put in the drop-downs and color coding similar to what was in the previous sheets in the years before. I can easily fix things if you see a problem.
  12. Are people still waiting for their emails?

  14. 1. Don't think so. I applied to 5 schools, no interviews. 2. I had a faculty mentor assigned to me on arrival. I ended up finding someone more related to my area of interest later anyway. 3. Of course. MPH applicants come from a variety of fields. Some programs have basic math requirements but even that seems rare. 4. It didn't hurt me. Unless that's why I didn't get into UDub... Seriously though, it's a professional program that seeks out diversity in its student body. There are kids fresh out of college, foreign doctors, mid-career changers. I think you're judged based on what you can bring to the class. That being said, rock those essays and find profs who really support your application. Where you apply is going to depend on a number of things. You'll need to pick a concentration and look at schools from there. At least in my current program, it's not easy to switch concentrations once you're here. After I decided on my concentration, I made a spreadsheet of schools and had their admissions statistics. I ranked them according to a variety of categories (strength of program, cost, location, etc) and picked 5 to apply to.
  15. Public health programs are known for looking for students that come from a variety of academic backgrounds and with varying levels of experience. I came from another field myself, International Relations, and I'm now in my second year of my MPH program. Take a look at the schools' specific requirements (some do have experience requirements like Columbia for global programs (which I still hear you can get around)) but regardless your lack of experience shouldn't be a huge problem.
  16. That sounds a bit like my campus interview! Ahhh! My interview made me a little insecure too but after revision I think my proposal was definitely strengthened and I just hope I addressed enough of their concerns. And they definitely had a few. Did anyone have someone who didn't speak their country's language try to test their knowledge of the language? That was fun/awkward. Anyone else applying to the Baltics?
