  1. Susan Sidlauskas at Rutgers, Christiane Hertel and Steven Levine at Bryn Mawr, June Hargrove at University of Maryland, and Elizabeth Childs at Washington University in St. Louis are all 19thc. European scholars who have done/are doing some fantastic work. You probably already know this, but it is important to note that even within 19th c. European art, there are many different possible research areas. These programs are going to want to see if you have more specific focused areas of interest within this period, especially for a PhD. The scholars on your list may have different (perhaps even conflicting) approaches, methodologies, preferred topics of research. When you reach out to your various PoIs and when you write your SoPs, make sure to adapt your essay for each program to present yourself as best a match as possible. I hope this made sense. Feel free to ask me any more questions...Good Luck!
  2. For all those UMD applicants still waiting, when I emailed the dept a couple of days ago, I got this response: Thank you for your email. I am sorry things are taking so long. The Admission's Committee will make their decision at the end of this month. You will be notified then. I'm not sure if they haven't been able to make a decision on me yet, or if I've been waitlisted. I've already accepted another offer a week or so ago, but it would be nice to get some closure on all these late notifiers. Good luck to every one waiting to hear back!
  3. I'm interested in transnationalism and cultural exchange in Modern France (19th c./early 20th c.). So picked Susan Sidlauskas for being the awesome Modern art scholar that she is. But I also like Tanya Sheehan's focus on race through the medium of photography. Lots and lots of luck on getting in! Keeping my fingers crossed for you Thanks! Yea she seems so down to earth yet intelligent. I'm convinced there are scholars out there who are actually cyborgs and have no clue how to interact with us 'lowly' grads...
  4. Thanks! Susan Sidlauskas. Although I would like to work with Tanya Sheehan as well.
  5. Just wanted to let you know that I received an email from MoMA wanting an interview early next week. It's all pretty much the same as londonwill has mentioned. It will be twenty minutes and it will be with the Director of Adult & Academic Programs, Assistant Director of Adult and Academic Programs, and Education Assistant, Internship Program and MoMA Courses. Pretty nervous but luckily I don't have to wait too long to find out whether I got it or not (July 15 is still the big day). Good luck to all!
  6. Yes congrats londonwill! A 20 min interview doesn't sound too intimidating. Hmm...Wonder if they email people in batches or all at once regarding interviews. In any case, lots of luck on the interview and keeping fingers crossed for the rest.
  7. Do they pick one 12-month intern per position? Assuming that they contact you close to the announcement date and they take about a week to interview candidates, then I predict we will find out this week or the next. It is rather nerve-wracking, but I guess it's comforting to know I'm not the only one wondering what's going on. Trying to keep myself busy with other things.
  8. Yes, I just read that over 1000 graduate students applied for 20 paid internships offered by the Museums Galleries Scotland, where interns receive £15,000 for the year. So I can only imagine the number MoMA gets. But still wish, we didn't have to wait till what...beginning of July to get some news? Oh wells... I applied for the Louise Bourgeois one, working with illustrated books, and prints as well. Good luck to all those who applied! I will also update if I find out anything
  9. Hi, Has anyone applied to the 12 month internship at MoMA? Just wondering when emails for interviews might be sent out. I've been waiting pretty anxiously although the announcement date is not till July 15th.
