  1. Here's two smaller ones. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SNqQDFMJFE4/TcI2RXBVO3I/AAAAAAAAADQ/GMmt6kR4H64/s1600/224810_1825419006487_1570640324_32044810_6149133_n.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-paUodpdHyvU/TcI2OBUwBpI/AAAAAAAAADI/1idstv1wQno/s1600/223039_1825419606502_1570640324_32044811_7833212_n.jpg These also went with the project in a more in direct way http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Al0Z6aR2Xj8/TcI1vSjBkFI/AAAAAAAAACI/vDwOj992568/s1600/215597_1825421166541_1570640324_32044816_855248_n.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cdSz_mT6QUY/TcI2MdDNP1I/AAAAAAAAADE/vG5luJuUX4Y/s1600/222736_1825456087414_1570640324_32044892_4062228_n.jpg the woman is painted on the corel program painter and then printed out on archival ink jet, the man and everything is oil. and the above is a computer mouse caught by a pixelated bird. this is work from my undergrad. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iBtsaXMvjTI/TcI2Js_4M6I/AAAAAAAAAC8/3wLltse9IH8/s1600/222423_1825419926510_1570640324_32044812_4004727_n.jpg
  2. Your work is incredible, both of you. A few years ago I was playing with some ideas you two are interested in. Creating grid like images using illustrators make and blend tool, projecting them and then painting them 6' square and bigger. Was really interesting process and I enjoyed the tension between our conceived idea of the quality of line a machine makes and that of a human. That little wiggle buzz really sets the work off and most certainly talks about our time. I enjoyed looking at your work, thanks!
  3. Congrats on the interviews and acceptances! Hoping to hear something tomorrow from somewhere...please? I feel this waiting game is playing tricks on my mind, trying to forget I even applied isn't as easy as it was a few weeks ago!
  4. Probably just double checking everything, might happen for everyone they're considering. interview for massart on the 23rd, looking forward to it.
  5. http://leetimko.carbonmade.com/ some of this work is a little old and not the best picture quality had some different images and work for my portfolio while applying

    MCAD

Thanks! I am hoping to hear from them soon, the application was due the same time as MassArt and I got a notification for an interview there last week. Best of luck!
  7. Congrats! Best advice I've seen is to just take this as an opportunity to speak about your work, just like you have in the past. Don't think of all that hangs on this, as I know the air is thick. Be conversational and not too defensive about your work, but explain why it stands up against art that is currently being produced. Be positive and energetic about the program, sell yourself and be confident in what you say, even if you're second guessing it in your head. Best of luck!

    MCAD

Did anyone here apply to MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art + Design) MFA program? Do they request interviews for selected applicants?
  9. http://framingcontrol.blogspot.com/2010/04/i-re-read-sarah-thorntons-article-crit.html Closest thing I can find as of now.
  10. Good luck to everyone on their CalArts interview! This doesn't address the interview, but I thought it may be beneficial to read. There is a book "Seven Days In The Art World" by Sarah Thornton, that describes the curriculum and how critiques are administered at CalArts. The chapter is titled "The Crit" You may be able to find it online but I suggest buying the book, very good read. Hope this helps a little....I'll try and find the passage on line for you guys
  11. Depending on how many they accept into your specific program, probably double that or a little more from what I've found. (accept 6 - 8, interviewed 12- 20)
  12. Some other questions that may help: What do you think about (artist, movement, subject/topic) What can't you stand? Why? What do you think about your own work? How do you want your work to develop? Why are you making the work you're making, and why do you want to keep doing it? Meaning behind your subject matter? influences why grad school, why now? I think it's best to be conversational and try to get the most out of the experience. Hope these help.
  13. Yeah I'm going to make the drive up to do it in person, I'm in PA so it's about a 5 and a half hour drive but worth it, I really love Boston. I picked three times as well, all on the 23rd and no I haven't heard anything back yet about a confirmation, I'm assuming some time next week...I hope. I'm excited, nervous, and numb all at the same time.
  14. Just saw you live in Boston so I'm assuming yes hah.
  15. Best of luck with your interview lfwd! are you going in person?
  16. For my interview at MassArt they said I could bring 4 examples of my work - new, in progress, or work that I submitted. I would just bring work that has the same thread of intent to the work you submitted in your portfolio. Stupid example: if you submitted all figurative work...probably not the best idea to bring a landscape...but who knows, it's all so subjective.
  17. Congrats to everyone on their acceptances! So exciting to hear all of this news. I was curious if any applied to MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art + Design) by chance? Or if anyone knows when one is to hear back from them. Also has anyone here gone for an interview at MassArt? What to expect...anything different than the ordinary questions?
  18. Congratulations to everyone on their progress so far. I just received an e-mail notification from MassArt as well inviting me for an interview for the 2d program. Does anyone know about how many applicants are invited for an interview there?
  19. I'm ready to start hearing some news back as well. I've applied to MassArt, MCAD, Syracuse, University of Florida, NYAA, CCAD, and KCAD. Good luck to everyone!
  20. If you think you'll end up back on the east coast, it might be a good idea to stay and build connections now...but you'll never know what the other side is like unless you check it out, which in turn may be for you. I'm narrowing my list down right now too, could you give some insight on the painting program at VCU. also, what type of work are you making?
  21. Combine multiple views into one JPEG with a small white border in between perhaps? or maybe you could take short 15-30 sec. videos of you panning around the work.
