Congrats! that is great news! Time to celebrate with some drinks. I received acceptance from MCAD yesterday, still anxiously awaiting news from MassArt. Best of luck everyone. This week is going to be full of answers, I can feel it. Does anyone have any first hand experience of the MFA program at MCAD? I visited the school and the facilities were nice and the mentor-based approach and graduate teaching seminar seems desirable. Just wandering if anyone knows anything else about their program? I know it's not super selective or as prestigious as some schools but I'm really excited I got in!

I haven't heard back from MassArt yet either, I am assuming we will probably hear sometime this week...hopefully! I did just get an acceptance letter from MCAD in the mail though! and waitlisted at Univ. of Florida!

Also may help to search some current students on facebook and ask them how the program is and what they think about it. Especially if one is doing work you aspire to do. Good luck with everything! and these are just opinions, as with art this is very subjective, and one school may be a great fit or horrible depending on the person.

I am very much interested in developing the same type of work. I visited NYAA over the summer and felt a little different about it than I had thought I would. Seemed really impersonal and crammed. Student work was beyond amazing though, the best I have ever seen at a school really. But something about it really seemed like a - you need them way more than they need you attitude. Know a lot of ppl there though and the work they put out is stellar. Great faculty as well.

It can be hard to think about anything but this for longer than five minutes. Monday morning though, coffee is on, and I'm already staring out the front window for the mailman and email is up haha. Hope everyone hears some great news this week! G'luck

Found out a few days ago I am on the wait list at the University of Florida for their painting program. I'm curious...is it over stepping or a bit much to call and ask what number you are on a wait list? Would an e-mail be more appropriate? I would like to know if I am anywhere close to possibly having a shot if someone declines to go after they're accepted, or if I am at the very end of the list.

I would skip out on the so-called gallery tour and hibernate in the museum until the interview. the person I met with from their during graduate portfolio day in nyc was extremely nice and seemed to understand my work wit relatively no explanation. Good luck nonetheless, if it's meant to happen...it'll happen.

Van Gogh exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art until mid May...if you're in the area definitely worth checking out!

If you're doing representational figurative work NYAA has a decent program with stellar faculty and visiting artists. Also, I just visited MassArt and their printmaking studio was the size of the entire third floor of classrooms, offices, and studios where I had my undergrad. Gigantic is putting it lightly.

I am the same way! My mind is totally pre occupied with what is going to be happening in the next few months of my life and I need to try and use that energy and excitement in painting. Possibly a whole different direction and body of work may stem from this process? Hang in there and just try and forget you applied (easier said than done). Good luck!

Haven't heard anything back yet...the anticipation is killing me! Best of luck!

I decided at the last minute not to apply to SMFA, against my better judgment and due to lack of money. although, I just returned from Boston because of an interview with MassArt. If you haven't been to the museum definitely go as it's right across the street (I'm sure you're aware). Best of luck, you got it!

Is this for Columbus? When did they notify you about an interview? Congrats! I applied as well but haven't heard anything as of yet.

From what I've heard they have a very strong program. Great facilities and museum connected to the school, as well as a stellar faculty. They do tend to focus more on representational, figurative work so if that is what you're in to, it seems like it would be the right fit. The reason I chose not to apply is due to its location. I'm from Pennsylvania and have visited Philly a lot, really do not want to live there for two years, and would generally just like to get away from the mind set of PA. Good luck with your decision! If you got in, I would definitely highly consider going. Check out their alumni and see what they're up to.

Congrats on all the acceptances! as for attire to wear to the interview, it's totally up to you really. I don't think they're that superficial that their decision comes down to what you put on that day, if they can even remember. do you remember exactly what they had on? probably not. I wore a sports coat and khakis, which is a little over dressed than my usual attire but hopefully it shows a level of professionalism and maturity, especially at the young age I am. Good luck to everyone this week!

I believe the same person, unfortunately I'm blanking on her name as well. I had a good feeling about the school while walking around, some great energy floating around. Best of luck, hopefully we'll be hearing something relatively soon.

you could ask for their personal opinion and interpretation on the program there, and what makes it special or stand out, what they value most in their students.

Just finished my interview as well. Went well I feel too, much more informal than I imagined and I really enjoyed the faculty that conducted the interview/crit and the students that gave the tour. Who gave you your tour?

Congrats to everyone, this week is going to be exciting I can feel it! My interview with MassArt is in two days and I'm feeling the nerves kick in! Super excited to visit Boston again though and see the Museum of Fine Arts. Hope everyone has a fruitful, inspiring week!
