  1. kglad- they told me it could happen (an open spot) today or in two weeks or never and that they couldn't tell me anything more than that. Basically it's just a matter of someone renegging inappropriately which will likely not happen at this point unless the harvard/yales are still shuffling their waitlist deck too.
  2. did anyone make any deadline decisions of interest?
  3. Can I email the phd recruiter where I'm waitlisted today and ask them what they think my chances of this converting on Monday are? They said they would tell me anything as soon as they knew, but there's another offer I may or may not turn down, so I want to know how smart it is to hang on until April 16th or 17th...
  4. no idea if my waitlist will convert. I know there's someone on this board who was accepted to where I want to go but didn't seem to be wanting to go there and I have no idea if said person has dropped from the school i'm waiting on or not...
  5. U-Dubs just officially notified me that I would not be getting off the funding alternate list.
  6. looks like a money trap for the idle rich. i'd stay away.
  7. Have a feeling my waitlist news will be an April 16th affair...for better or worse...
  8. I dunno. Just wait until Friday though. I'll be shocked if nobody hears anything this week. But based on what I've seen, if both acceptances and rejections have already been given and we're this late into things the most likely possibility is a rejection.
  9. well, things should get interesting this week...maybe even this afternoon...
  10. I think that mid-March snailmail letter from NYU would be nothing other than a rejection, unfortunately. :/
  11. A school told me that I was being considered more on my compatibility with faculty than anything else. It's an easy way to pick through applicants who are all very similar in terms of grades, experience, etc. So, I'd trigger every personal statement toward that and if you have a writing sample that draws heavily from the work of a current professor somewhere, apply to that school.
