  1. Thoroughly enjoyed it! Felt good about the interview, but then again every person I talked to felt great about their interview as well. Also, haven't heard back from them yet, and in previous years it looks like they called the next day. hmmm.
  2. hey leetimko - don't give up hope yet! I just received an acceptance email from MassArt, and in the letter they ask that a response be given promptly so that waitlisted candidates can have a chance. My guess is that if you interviewed, you're on the waitlist. that being said, maybe an email is on the way for you!
  3. It was great meeting you guys! (whoever you guys might be...but I know you're lurking here.)
  4. Thanks! And same back to you! Now we just need MassArt to make some decisions... susanbanthony - did they offer you any scholarship $$? they made a point of it to note in my letter that they "unfortunately" can't offer me any scholarships. booo.
  5. Congrats susanbanthony69! I also just received an acceptance to BU's MFA painting program.
  6. Come on BU! Information! I need it! Anyone heard anything from them regarding interviews?
  7. Yikes - RISD interviews are apparently first-come first-serve. Who knew? At least I managed to schedule a skype one before those filled up too...
  8. Thanks bluntfairy for sharing all that! It's nice to have an idea of what to expect.
  9. Thanks pinecode! Thanks! How did yours go? I notice we have a similar line-up of schools. Are you painting or something else?
  10. LoloLauren - please tell more! cooky, you say? details?
  11. Got an interview at RISD!! Definitely didn't see that one coming.
  12. I'll be at the interview! They didn't give us specific times yet, did they?
  13. In the one interview I went to, I dressed up nicely without wearing 'suit' attire. The two people who went before me were wearing much more casual clothing (a little too casual in my opinion, but what do I know?). I feel like if I had worn suit pants or a jacket or something I would have felt a little bit out of place. The professors and grad students who were sitting in were all wearing pretty casual clothing (casual as in what you might wear in any average day in classes/at the studio.)
  14. Unfortunately I'm blanking on her name, but she was very friendly and helpful. Short, straight blond hair. Who gave you yours? It was about half an hour. Good luck!
  15. Just finished my interview at MassArt! Went well, very relaxed. No scary hard-ball questions.
  16. Thanks! And yea, in person. How about you? Also, did you get any confirmation of a date and time? I picked three options but haven't heard back yet on which time slot... Good luck to you too!
  17. MassArt requested that at least 4 original works be brought with me, which can include work submitted in the portfolio and/or newer work. haha @leetimko you beat me to it!
  18. Also just got an email from SMFA for an interview. Congrats to all the Tyler people! Tyler was my undergrad, it's a great school.
  19. Congrats to everyone who's heard positive news! I just got an email inviting me to interview for MassArt's 2D program!
  20. Well, in case anyone else is ever wondering, I finally got through to Northeastern's offices and had some questions answered. Northeastern's MFA is in its 4th year, and largely focuses on the digital arts and time-based media (they don't encourage painting/sculpture/etc). The studio component of Northeastern's collaboration with SMFA is identical to Tuft's SMFA program, and there is a place for painting and the such; academics are then of course taken at the collaborating university. A portfolio submitted to Northeastern for the SMFA program first has to pass Northeastern's review, and if approved, is then sent along to SMFA for review.
  21. The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston collaborates with Tufts in an MFA program, which is widely recognized. Northeastern U apparently does the same thing, but they provide two options: MFA at Northeastern MFA at Northeastern in collaboration with SMFA My questions are: 1) Does anyone know anything about the MFA program that's just at Northeastern? 2) If I'm applying to SMFA+Tufts, is it redundant to apply to SMFA+Northeastern?
  22. MassArt has a graduate open house this Saturday. I'm not sure if it's the kind you're looking for, since pre-registration is required, and they're doing portfolio reviews if you want them. I'm going! http://www.massart.edu/Admissions/Graduate_Programs/Open_House.html
  23. Well, it looks like I'm a little late to this, but I was a 2010-11 Fulbright ETA in Spain (Valencia region), so if anyone has any questions I'd be more than happy to discuss. Also, I kept a blog through the whole year, if you're interested in perusing. www.lyladuey.wordpress.com
