Hrm, Seems like Columbia finally decided to do its open house/admit someone. Ah well, I had alreayd counted myself out anyways since their (western) medievalist is retiring. Alas, alck. Now if only the rest of them would get on with it.

Thread revival! Since Brown is starting to respond to the humanities kids, anybody gotten the good news/considering Brown? I'm hoping lots of my "GradCafe friends" are coming here! (So I can have more "real life friends"!)

If it makes you feel better, I only left my house today to go to my boyfriend's house...across the street. I too am totally vulnerable and needy. Luckily taking it out on GradCafe and not my bf (see- GradCafe is totally good for me). -

Only for the state schools. Most private universities (including the one I attend), don't close for the holiday. On the other hand, the postal service won't be operating. Sorry if that didn't help. -
It appears news is squeaking out about BU and UMichigan. How is it that in previous years, these would have been later to notify, but this year they're earlier than the schools that usually notify much earlier. Gripe.

I sort of have the same question! I heard about my acceptance via the school's website, and haven't heard anything else via phone or email. Besides stil being in a state of disbelief, no one has told me anything, so I really don't know how to proceed. I know pretty much who I want to/will be working with (they only have one person is my specfic field). I met with her last October/November and haven't talked to her since. I assume she's busy, because hey, she's a normal person and a professional professor- of course she's busy! But it also makes me nervous that I haven't heard anything official besides the website (especially with all the people saying they got phone calls and emails from their POIs). My friends (who aren't at all familiar with the admissions process, but are my friends, and generally give good advice) say that I should definitely email her- but wouldn't she email me first if she wanted to hear from me? Haha, can't stop overthinking even after being accepted. Will I somehow offend her if I don't email?

Just heard back from my first school. Was planning a theoretical shopping trip, but instead I'm treating myself to basking in pure unadulterated joy.

Checked my Brown status after the results board showed Brown results. OH MY GOD I GOT IN. Top choice, first thing I've heard. I almost don't want to believe it (does the website lie? Is this a cruel joke?) Imma go have me a happy Valentine's Day.

To the Brown admit- congrats! I can't even begin to describe how much I wish I heard that news from them too! Anybody want to claim it? I promise not to mob you! Thirt is the first peep heard from any school I applied to.

The process is getting to me again... Had a nightmare last night where I was up against a demented adcom who insisted that they'd only let me in if I dipped my fingers in gold in order to "become the Baroque". I think I might need to stop watching Game of Thrones before bed. Also I probably need to relax.

For those of us who still haven't heard anything- one of my profs suggested today that we'll be hearing a lot in the next week b/c schools will want to make decisions before CAA starts an half the department is gone. Yikes? Yay?

1st: Congrats to the UVA acceptance! 2nd: Aaaaagghhhh that's the first school that's I applied to showing up. I'm having to strongly resist flinging myself into full despair mode. Must. Be. Calm. 3rd: Congrats to whoever it was! Maybe this is a sign that they've made choices and news will be coming soon. 4th: I hope everyone is doing well at the start of this new week! New motto: May the odds be ever in your favor.
