Not sure exactly what I will end up getting in terms of surgery. I have another appointment this Tuesday with a surgeon to discuss it. I'll have a better idea then.
I'm a little uneasy about it though because you're exactly right, things could go wrong. We'll see what I find out on Tuesday.
UnlikelyGrad: thank you! I spent the summer sailing down in the South Pacific. Had the opportunity of doing some field work while down there. Though not a research cruise, it was a pretty neat experience!
RedPanda: Congrats on the acceptances!
I have a chronic back and neck pain issue. I am going to be having surgery within the next year, but until then I am forced to find a way to manage my pain. There is such a doctor called a "Pain Specialist" who works with patients to manage their pain. I'd recommend looking into that. It has helped significantly (and most insurance companies cover your visits....assuming the pain is 'real')
I haven't personally applied to any but I was told from a friend of mine who has applied that the Physics GRE isn't looked at.
I'll ask my friend today though and see what he says about the process.
this is a little off topic, but i'm sitting in class right now...not paying attention to the subject matter at hand...wondering what it would be like if grad cafe didn't exist. I'd probably lose it a bit (that is, lose it a bit more than I am right now )
Aw i'm sure you did much better than you think. I know I have a tendency to walk away from interviews/exams/GRE/etc. thinking i've done TERRIBLE but in the end its all in my head. So let's hope thats the case this time!
Best of luck!
Ah yes, that first acceptance was quite a relief! And I see you have an interview with Yale? Congrats! Let's hope we both have more acceptances coming our way!
I'm glad you're ok! Agreed: the earlier, the better. I managed to get all mine submitted before Thanksgiving (deadlines Jan 5th) which has made things a lot less stressful.
Kitkat- I'm sure that the professor you contacted was just really busy....this time of year is pretty hectic and who knows how many emails they may receive a day.
I heard back from about 4 out of 5 professors. Most were quick about getting back to me-- a couple times, in fact, within the next 12 hours.
The state of South Carolina is not as bad as people make it out to be. Yeah, it's got its 'sketchy' or hick parts, but Clemson as a city and a university is a great place.
Do you all know how long it takes for ETS to get our scores sent to the schools we requested? I took the GRE November 22nd and my scores were posted online Nov 30th. None of the schools I applied to have received my scores.
I emailed the schools I applied to just to make sure. I'm glad I did because apparently half of them claim they have not received my scores! Not sure what that's all about....checking with ETS right now.
When it comes to admissions, it all depends on the applicant. ....I wouldn't let your GPA keep you from applying to any program you want. The upward trend in your GPA is a plus and I'm sure you have a lot to bring to the table, too. Just keep truckin' along!
