That's awesome! I'm really kicked for everyone hearing from schools! None of the programs I've applied to have an interview component, so I guess I'm going to have to wait till March.
Litjust, congratulations on your MSU admit! You must be very excited!
Litjust, my interests are almost exactly identical to yours, except that I'm looking at all of that from a math literacy perspective. It's very exciting to meet people with somewhat similar interests
Hey everybody, I'm applying to Culture, Communities, and Education too. *Fingers Crossed*
Have already got into a Masters program at Columbia, waiting to hear about financial aid though. Hopefully something works out.
I completely agree that it is subjective, and that decisions must be based on the kind of research the faculty at a place is pursuing. Funny thing though is that I really really wanted to work with a couple of professors at Berkeley, but I decided not to apply because they wrote back saying that they have a poor track record funding international students. I was really disappointed.
Just a few Math Ed / Learning Sciences Programs (with a focus on Culture and Math Learning):
- PhD in Mathematics Education (Dept. of Teaching and Learning), Vanderbilt University
- Ed.D in Culture, Communities, and Education, HGSE (Again, with a focus on Math Ed)
- PhD in Learning Sciences, Northwestern
Good luck, everyone!
