  1. I was just wondering if there are any other people who still haven't heard from Rutgers? I haven't heard a word and am starting to think the forgot me sense they have been contacting people since mid-February.
  2. I would agree, although I know little about the communication design program at Pratt specifically, what I know about the school as a whole would make me doubt their program is anywhere near the quality of CMU. Hey OutWest... You have some amazing school offers! Are you leaning towards any yet?
  3. I think keeping a positive attitude is always a better way of approaching things... But with that said, based on the way they have notified in the past, the fact that in slide room people who received interview requests still had "mfa" written next to their program name and people who had the "mfa" removed did not get interviewed, we can safely assume with little doubt we are rejected. It's a great program, but you can't feel too bad getting rejected because of the sheer number of applications they receive. We probably will get our rejection letters this week based on when they sent them before.
  4. I agree as well. There are so many people graduating with MFAs now, even from the top ranking selective programs, that getting a degree from any place doesn't give you a giant jump on everyone else. There are many wonderful artists who have great success but never went to school, or went to programs you have never heard of.
  5. Thanks, I really appreciate the kind comments. It went well, it was much more laid back then I expected and the 30 minutes flew by. My first grad interview down, now I just have to see how NYU goes next week.
  6. Heading out to Penn Station to catch the train to Bard for my interview... Good luck to everyone and hope there is some good news out there for you all.
  7. That is so weird about Rutgers sending the rejection emails after the letters! Sorry about that guys. I still haven't heard from them, which at this point I am still assuming rejection so I'm just wondering why it's not here yet. On a side note I did get rejected from University of Miami today. I don't think anyone on here applied there but figured I would mention it if anyone had or will in the future.
  8. Great words to think about and so true. On a side note, did Montclair offer you aid already? I was thinking they offered tuition waivers as stipends but I don't remember fr sure because I ended up not applying. I only ask because I met the director of the program once and got a great vibe about the program. Could be a good choice for people looking for the NYC area.
  9. Sorry to hear about the rejection, but I am with you that at this point getting the bad news is much more of a relief than not knowing! Rejection still sucks either way you cut it. I'm still thinking you have a good shot with a few programs you haven't heard from. That's great to hear! I'm glad to see that it all paid off in the end and it seems like you have a great attitude about it all. I'm still hopeful one of my interviews will work out, but if not I will just keep working and apply again next year. Good luck in SD!
  10. I was rejected from UCLA this morning as well. I noticed the actual letter they uploaded was dated February 24th, which would coincide with around the time I started to assume I was rejected. This brings me back to the frusteration with schools waiting so long to notify people of rejection... I mean, if they know for three weeks, and I'm sitting here pretty much knowing, why can't they notify people sometime sooner than 3 weeks after they printed the letter. Columbia seems to be pretty bad about notifying too, so even though I already know a rejection is coming I probably won't hear from them until next week at the soonest. Lol and I wish Rutgers would quit playing with my emotions and just tell me already, too!
  11. That's an interesting subject to discuss in this process, being that most of us are applying to schools over multiple geographic regions and have family/partners. I know my partner wanted to stay in NYC so she is very excited that the only two interviews I got were here lol! She has been really great in being supportive of hearing me complain and stress... And having to hear me talk about gradcafe all day long!
  12. Kazoo, you haven't heard from UCSD yet? I'd say that is probably better news than bad news because it looks like they have already sent out mass rejections already. Perhaps a waitlist, or possibly still an acceptance. Good luck!
  13. Last year it looks like Rutgers people didn't get their rejections until around 3-14. One person posted they were notified of being on the waitlist like a week before that. It's hard to say anything for sure though because schools do not always follow their same patterns every year. For example, the last two years Hunter didn't notify people of interviews until around the first of March and this year they did it weeks ahead. Also, they didn't notify people of rejections until 3/16 and it looks like all of us got our rejections from there last week. So the moral is, for us who haven't heard from Rutgers it doesn't look good but with that said who really knows for sure until you actually hear from the school. I'd say it is better to stay positive than focus on negatives.
  14. Same here too. Although at this point I am assuming it's a rejection.
  15. I have never actually been there but I have heard nothing but great things about UCONN
  16. Hunter rejection over here too, everyone. Seems like at this point all my schools are a no-go except my two interviews. Hopefully I do well on those, but like many of you I am starting to plan on what to do different for applying next year.
  17. Yes, you are certainly right that it's probably far too early to "freak-out" about Rutgers. They have some pretty good financial aid packages so there is a good chance they will offer you a good deal. I have worked with some non-profit art galleries in Newark, which is only about 20 minutes from Rutgers, and can tell you that aside from being close to NYC as most people tend to mention, the art scene in NJ is really interesting and exciting right now. Sounds like you are going to have some tough decisions to make.
  18. I agree with cxxxxxx that I would envy having a full tuition offer already, and I definitely agree with fool4nine that I envy cxxxxxx's portfolio! I love your work! Anyway, fool4nine, I think that either way you're in a really good position, as I am sure you know. It sounds like you may be leaning toward Ohio, and if that is the case I think it might be a better choice as well. There is nothing against Cranbrook, I think it is a wonderful school and I wouldn't blame you for considering it no matter the cost, but I don't think the name and connections of Cranbrook over the name and connections of Ohio or as substantially better as you may think. The program there is pretty strong, and the faculty there are going to have connections that you might not expect. I know from my own experience that schools that might seem less well-connected are not always the case. I began school at a small community college in Daytona Beach, Florida and later transferred to Parsons in NYC and honestly most of the faculty in Florida had connections throughout the art world, just like the faculty in NYC. Plus, the faculty in Daytona were much more accessible to me then when I went to NYC. Basically what I am saying is that at face value a school in Daytona might not sound as good as a school in NYC, but the reality is both offer very fulfilling and well connected opportunities for growth. Either way you go, good luck and I wish you the best. PS I am super jealous of the Rutgers admission too! I am thinking at this point that's a rejection for me because I haven't heard from them yet.
  19. lol no worries, I think we all got pretty riled up from the emotional roller coaster of reading that title and then opening the email to see what it really was.
  20. Oh man, I got the Columbia email to and it freaked me out. How cruel is it to send people waiting to hear about interview requests/admissions an email titled "you're invited"!!! Poor choice of words Columbia. Lol
  21. For sure! I will send some good NYU mojo out and hope those interview requests are on there way. I think they might just because so many people on this forum haven't heard from them and I find it hard to believe I'm the only one on the forum with an NYU interview. Especially when many of the people I see on here who applied have work way better than mine. Still no news from Rutgers but here is to keeping the faith!!
  22. Great! Congratulations on Rutgers. I love that program! Since you got your UCSD rejection right before I got mine, I am going to take this as a sign from the MFA Gods that I have a letter coming from Rutgers now too! lol
  23. Nice! Guess that interview went really well afterall. Congratulations
  24. This is interesting to hear. After reading others got interview requests already, I assumed Hunter was a no go for sure. Did you get any sort of idea about when the other rounds of interview requests may be sent?
  25. haha, you gotta love Korine.
