  1. I think a rejection which meant a break up would make me crumble. Im sorry to hear that. My SO and I are distance right now but I am not sure how things will shake out after admissions decisions go out. Thanks for posting some fun things guys! Its good to try to get our minds off of apps for a few minutes now and then. Im actually about to turn on some Seinfeld re-runs.
  2. Don't worry! I hope everyone hears some good news back soon! (Its easy to say don't worry, but here I am worrying too!)
  3. Also consider asking about future research directions, teaching opportunities, and major milestones of the program.
  4. I appreciate the advice from Miss Manners but I tend to think that if you choose to share your admissions decisions with family/friends/online communities you should be sincere about how you feel. If you are proud and excited, then just be proud and excited.
  5. You may consider taking this opportunity to ask any questions you have about the future directions of their research or the structure of the lab. Now that you have some positive feedback from them you can further explore your fit in their group. Congrats on this result!!
  6. When were the application deadlines?
  7. I think there is still time for schools to report back to us. It is getting hard to wait for all of the news. Do you think sometimes no news is good news?
  8. Good point! It is easy to get caught up in the stress of the application process but ultimately the campus visits should be fun. I am excited to meet with the profs and current students!
  9. I wish! But i have heard from my advisors that while an interview is a good sign, it is not an automatic acceptance. The above posters are right, its a good idea to prepare and do your homework! Good luck!

  13. In preparing for my interview weekend, I have become a little nervous that there may be a group interview. How are these interviews structured and what are some tips for mastering them? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks guys!

  15. I think Id like to celebrate with my SO and friends! I am not sure what, but this thread has inspired me to plan something special!
  16. I was under the impression that clinical apps are usually due a few weeks earlier and that clinical programs give admissions decisions a little sooner as a result. Can anyone confirm this?
  17. haha ya i have checked my spam folder a few times just incase, you never know!

  20. Thanks guys! This info was very helpful. I think i will wait for a week or two and see if any other schools get back to me, at that point if i still need more time, I will contact the school and request an extension for my decision. i am hopeful they will be ok with this.
  21. I received an admissions offer from a school that I am excited about. I still have an interview to attend from a different school and am (not so) patiently awaiting admissions decisions from other programs. Normally this would be fine but the school that accepted me asked for a response within 30 days to hold my spot in their program. If I have not heard back from other programs at that time I do not feel like I can give them a decision. Is it appropriate for me to ask for more time in this case? Has anyone faced similar circumstances?
  22. Thanks for the info! The email they sent said that more info will be on the way soon. I imagine this info will include a schedule and format of the visit. I have decided to spend some time reflecting on the school and how I see myself fitting into the program as part of my prep. I think that you are right, it is important to be confident and just be yourself. Good luck to everyone in this process!

  25. From what I have heard, professors are not obligated to respond at all to your contact so if they respond positively it should be taken as a great sign. I think it means they are truly interested in you as a student and your work. Well done and congrats on the opportunity to continue your work!
