  1. My application was complete September 9th (I spent last semester abroad and finished my applications before I left) so I've been waiting a really, really long time to find out
  2. Got my acceptance to Columbia University today! There was a link posted on my application that sent me to a letter with my acceptance. It was dated from today so they must have just put them up.
  3. I also submitted mine 1/16- I called in on Thursday to make sure my transcript was received and my application was complete and while I was on the phone they said that since my application was complete I could set up an interview time right there on the phone. I recommend you call in to check your application status and set up an appointment for your interview that way!
  4. My transcript was received and I have an interview next week! How long is the typical wait between the interview and decision?
  5. That's where I sent it also! I'm thinking of driving to Philly to drop it off myself (it's not such a far drive from New York), but it probably won't get there before Feb. 1st. Do you think that will hurt my chances of getting in?
  6. Question about UPenn: I had my transcript sent to the address listed on SP2's website and it was returned to my college because it's not a "real address." When I called Admissions they said the only address to send it to is the one listed. I double and triple checked the address I wrote on the transcript request form, and it's the correct one. Just checking to see what address other UPenn applicants sent their transcript too, because obviously those were received just fine. Thanks in advance!
  7. I'm actually in the same position, and applying to almost all the same schools (Columbia, UPenn, Hunter, Fordham, NYU, and Yeshiva.) It seemed to me that many people going into graduate school for an MSW already had a ton of work experience, so I spoke to people from different programs (Yeshiva, Columbia, and Fordham) who all stated that many of their classmates had come straight out of undergrad. I even spoke to one student at Columbia who told me that oftentimes schools prefer students straight out of undergrad because they haven't been "trained" yet and don't yet have a particular approach to social work. Now, I can't speak for the validity of her statements, but I sure hope that she was right- if so it would seem like we have an advantage!
  8. I just got an email from Columbia yesterday saying that my application is complete and that they will be reviewing it shortly. I called NYU and Fordham before holidays just to make sure all my papers were in and both schools said that they don't start reviewing applications until after New Years, so I'm going to call back in a couple of weeks.
  9. I was pretty calm about my acceptances (or lack thereof as of yet) but now I'm kind of freaking out. I applied to Columbia, NYU, Fordham, Hunter, and Yeshiva in September- I'm doing a semester abroad and wanted everything taken care of before I left. Now I'm looking back over my applications and feel like in my rush to get the apps in I didn't do as well as I should have on my personal statements. My GPA is 4.0 and I have strong recommendations, as well as a respectable amount of work experience. Does anyone know just how important the personal statement is in the application? Also- has anyone been contacted for an interview yet?
