  1. I am an international student living in NY as well. Finding an apartment was a huge hassle for me. Most landlords will not accept your application if you have no credit history. I was rejected from one apartment because of no SSN. They might let you pay for a year's rent up front, but in NYC that is a lot of money that us grad students usually don't have lying around. They will take a co-signer but they have to be American and living in the Tri-state area. I ended up going with a Guarantor company in order to get my apartment. You have to apply to the guarantor and give them your financial information. The application process isn't too bad. You also have to pay them around a month's rent as a fee. Not all landlords accept Guarantors but there are quite a few in the city who do. Let me know if you need any more information!
  2. I was accepted to Fordham Clinical Concentration as well!!
  3. You say Fordham is not a comparable program. What is your reasoning for that? I don't know much about the differences in the programs so I'm just curious!
  4. I spoke with someone today and they said they are sending out decisions every day! Hopefully we will all hear soon!
  5. I am currently doing a masters where it is extremely hard to meet people. There are no placements and many commuters so it has been difficult moving to a new city and not really being able to find my place. I have applied to the MSW program at Columbia and Fordham and was wondering what the lifestyle is like in those programs? Do you find the placements help with becoming integrated in the community? Any info would be great! Thanks!!
  6. Apparently some people have heard back from Columbia. I applied there as well and haven't heard back yet.
  7. Thank you so much for the update! I was startng to get worried. It sounds like they are sending out acceptances as they go instead of sending them all out at one time. I was under the impression no one would hear until March!
  8. What concentration did you apply to? I checked my application and there is no decision option there yet.

    New York, NY

Hey! What school are you going to? What term are you starting in? I am moving to NYC in January and am looking for an apartment/roommate as well!
  10. I would agree with the above post! As long as the schools are in the same league I would go with School B. I had an experience where I went to my "dream school" which is a very large and well known school. I gave up a lot to go to the school...spent a lot of money and moved to a new country just to attend. It turned out to be a disaster. I ran into trouble and could not get any help. I was just a number. I am now preparing to attend a smaller school which is ranked a bit below the other school but is still in the same league. So far I have been treated 100 times better. In my opinion smaller is the way to go!!

    TATTOOS

I have 6 tattoos. One on my foot, leg, lower back, neck, behind ear and bracelet around my wrist. Although I like my tattoos I feel that for the profession I am going into (Educational/School Psychology) they are not appropriate. If I wear a skirt and a t-shirt and wear my hair up I have 4 visible tattoos. I don't like the restraints of having to wear clothing to cover them up so I am in the process of getting those 4 removed. Horrible horrible experience to say the least. I am hoping most of them will be gone before I begin school/placements in the fall. I still love tattoos and will probably get another one in my lifetime! I will just think about the placement much harder than I did before and make sure it is easier to cover than these ones.
  12. Thanks so much for the information!! From what I can tell so far they don't seem to be in your face at all which is nice. They seem very eager to help me out too which I like. I attended NYU very briefly in September and found that no one would help me when I ran into trouble. Fordham seems completely different in that sense. I was a little worried about the campus life but from what you and others have said it sounds like it is going to be a great experience!!
  13. Do you mind me asking what school you attended? I have been accepted into Fordham and am wondering about what the school is like in terms of being outwardly religious. I'm also curious about the social aspect. I am Catholic but I am not overly religious at all. I just wanna make sure I go to a school where I am going to fit in!
  14. I am in the same situation as you!! Initially I was worried about what the social aspect of the school was going to be like but as I looked more into the school and my program, I don't have those same concerns. This school seems very open to all types of people and have treated me extremely well during my application process. What school are you considering?
  15. I just got my acceptance email!! So excited!! Do not give up guys!! It can really happen!!! Good luck!!!
