  1. So I got rejected by SFSU. I had about a 3.0 GPA overall with decent GRE scores (including a 5.5 on my analytical writing portion), I can't remember if we were even required to submit those or not. I had good letters, and worked at a psychiatric office for over a year, paid internship. I applied to CSUN for their masters in sociology program, because I am a soc undergrad, and I got in there as well as SJSU for a masters in urban planning program. I liked these three areas of sociology, so I decided to give myself options. I am going to go to Northridge. I did think that an MSW program would have been great though. I enjoy working with people, and enjoyed that aspect of human services. I didn't know SF was so competitive when I applied. I thought moving to SF would be cool, and then later found out how hard it is to get in. In the end I am a little annoyed that it took them almost 6 months to tell me (and everyone else) that we were rejected. If their programs so "great" you would think that they could work harder on getting through the applications. I had decided that even if I was accepted I wouldn't go there because I needed to make a decision by the 1st, so I am not necessarily mad that I didn't get in, although I would like to have said I was one of the 17% or however low it is. I want to hear back from others who applied! Good luck everyone!
  2. I had this lady for a class at CSUS...She is an idiot, and be thankful that you don't have to cross her path.
  3. I have to respond to another program by May 1st. At this point SF has kind of pissed me off. We applied like 5 months ago. This isn't med school or law school. What has taken them so damn long? Now I am left in a predicament. Sorry, haha.. It's been a crazy week, and hearing that we wont know until the last day of April added to it.
  4. That's interesting. They give the university grant at the undergrad level too (I am graduating from Sac State), but you don't need to fill anything out of apply, it's just given to you based on your GPA (I believe) and your amount of need. I didn't even know that we needed to apply for it at the graduate level. This MSW program is the only MSW program that I have applied for. I applied to 2 other masters programs in different disciplines. I am really hoping that I get into the MSW program at SFSU but based on pure numbers I am discouraged. Hopefully we find out this week!
  5. Did everyone else get their award notification for SFSU? I didn't realize they would tell us that information before telling us their admission decision. The total so far (Without the Cal Grant which appears to be not factored in yet) is actually LESS then the estimated cost to live/attend. Interesting. Anyway, I don't know why they update all these links and not just let us know if we've been accepted! haha =) I guess I will wait fr the 3rd week of April.
  6. Who has gotten an answer from SFSU? It seems like most of us haven't heard anything yet.
  7. ANYONE hear from SF yet...Man they're really dragging this out.. Does anyone know how we will be notified?
  8. Did anyone else have their SFSU website change today? There are a few new links on it about submitting medical records, and a new financial aid link, but they say still pending. Anyone else see this?
  9. I applied to SFSU MSW Program for fall 2012. I check my admission status every day, 2-3 times a day. Does anyone know if they email you or not? I went in to the application process having NO clue that it was one of the most competitive programs to get into in the nation. I had already started my application so I just said why not finish it, and kept going. I am nervous now, but I feel like my statement, and my letters were very strong, as was my GPA. I think it's kind of lame how much emphasis all of these programs put on work experience. I have a few seperate volunteer sources and work sources within social work, but aren't we going into these programs in order to find work? Has anyone heard from SFSU either way? I turned my application in right near the deadlne, but I don't think that will make a big difference. Ok, thanks for your time! Good luck!
  10. I applied to SFSU's program, just got my app done last week. I think I am competitive, but I am worried about the 17.4% admissions rate that I am reading about online. I didn't realize it was so low when I started my application, and I had finished it before I read that number. Oh well, I'm not too worried. Also plan to apply to USC's full time program, as well as a few Sociology grad programs.
