  1. Hello and congrats on your acceptance. I was also accepted and waitlisted for funding. UF is one of my top choices depending on how funding pans out. Anyone know how many applications they received? I was told they accepted 10 students but I don't know how many were funded - or what funded even means at UF these days. Anyone with more information?
  2. C&I - no, I was admitted last week. We PM'd about this. Congrats superrockr1! I also applied at UF, UGA, and USC but haven't heard anything from them yet. Thanks for sharing the info about Temple.
  3. Regarding Georgetown - I too am waiting to hear something. I noticed the latest rejection said via website but I think that applicant is international? Maybe that's the difference? When I go online, all I can see is my application - that it was submitted successfully and that my LORs were received. Maybe I'm going to the wrong site? Also, to the recent Temple admit - did you hear anything about funding? Does anyone on the forum know how Temple handles funding? Thanks!! Lastly, I haven't posted much on this site but just wanted to send general well wishes to everyone. Your advice helped me tremendously last week when I interviewed. I felt much better and had a great interview and was admitted to the program. So far I am 2-2 with 6 more schools to hear from. My main concern is funding. I have a dependent and am really worried that I'll have to turn down an opportunity to do further research b/c I can't provide for him. Thanks for giving me a place to voice my seemingly endless worrying. Best to all!
  4. C&I, I'm the Temple admit. It was a huge surprise because I was denied at UT Austin and haven't heard anything still from OSU. I was beginning to think I wouldn't make it this cycle. Actually, the letter didn't mention anything at all about funding so I guess I still haven't officially made it. Sorry it took so long to get back on - GC kept crashing. For what it's worth, I looked at last year's results and Temple strung out acceptances for over a month.
  5. If a school nominates you for a fellowship, can you consider yourself (at least) half-way in? Or is that wishful thinking?
  6. Thank you Strange Light. That was a very generous response!
  7. Hello All, I've been a lurker here for quite a while. Thank you to everyone for all of the informative posts and for the place to commiserate about the stresses of this process. Also, congrats to all the early acceptances! I've been asked to visit the campus and interview in person at one of my schools. I didn't expect to have to interview and the idea is kind of terrifying b/c I do not have a detailed - or even very specific - proposal for a dissertation project. Can anyone share their interview experiences? Were you asked to elaborate on your dissertation proposal or was the interview more balanced with other topics? Thanks in advance for any help!
  8. I think a day at the spa would go nicely with an acceptance
  9. I am a single mom with a full time job and I still find myself obsessively thinking about the ad committees. I'm not sure that a hobby will suffice to keep my anxiety down and my mind still. Well, maybe meditation ..
  10. I'm ambivalent about joining this thread. I made it through the application process without losing my mind or too much hair. Shouldn't that qualify me for acceptance? Seriously, I have no idea how to distract myself from the waiting. Ten applications and I refuse to tally the cost. I don't want to know what I spent on this process, especially if I'm rejected. Ugh. I wish I could sleep until March.
