  1. Sure! I'm serious about this. I'm trying to make a lot of money this month. If I don't get accepted, I'll hope to have enough saved to hike the entire AT.
  2. My plan B? Hike the Appalachian Trail.
  3. Thank god Doberman, We've still got a shot!
  4. Lets hope. Washington was one of my strongest fits.
  5. Still no updates from Washington-Seattle... maybe a fake posting? Maybe a singualr event, with more to come? I know I'm not the only one on this forum that applied to Washington.
  6. Got a feeling we're about to hit a busy week for acceptances/rejections
  7. Put it this way. I can be 200k in debt and go bankrupt, but if I have a PhD and can do research, I'll be happy.
  8. What the OP is missing is that I am not in this hunt for the money, or the debt, or the jobs... I'm in it because I actually truly do care for the discipline of sociology and seek to know people and how they interact as closely as possible.
  9. At least she said "early notifications" Which means that it isn't ALL of the notifications, heh...
  10. Congrats. I can only hope to get that kind of email from the programs I applied to!
  11. Ty MS, will check these all out!
  12. Just let me know how you are hedging yours. I'm hedging mine with a couple MA programs.
  13. I've searched pretty hard for these and can't find any... and hearing that a Washington invitaiton already went out makes my stomach drop. I fit in BEST there.
  14. Checked my status, and there is no status update. If we get a few more acceptances, might want to email the grad coordinator and see how the process is going. I know last year acceptances went out around feb 5-7th.
  15. Damn. I thought I had a good shot there. Fingers crossed.
  16. Is this the same as Washington-Seattle?
  17. Anyone want to claim it? Is this the same UW that is in Seattle?
  18. Maximus, Because I'm already 2 years out of school, and I would have to retake the GRE. If I apply next year, then it will be for the 2013-2014 cycle, which is even further removed from my last time spent in an educational setting. I have no ability to improve my application any, because all of my time is spent working 60 hours a week to pay off student loans. I understand unfunded MA programs are a lot of money and I'll have to start from scratch, but I think that in order to be competitive with other applicants to the programs I want to get into, a MA program may be my best and only bet.
  19. Gotcha guys. Already applied to UC-Denver's MA program, unfunded unfortunately. I think I can swing another few student loans if I have to though. We'll see.
  20. Hey guys, although I applied 3 months ago to all of these colleges, I've since realized that there were a few things left out of my personal statement that I feel the graduate committees should be aware of. I've retooled it a bit. Do you think it would negatively impact me if I emailed my POIs and the grad chairs and sent them an updated statement of purpose? Could it impact me positively? Have you ever heard of someone doing this?
  21. Same here, haha. UT Austin rejected me 3 times.
  22. Also, anyone know of any programs still accepting applications for funded MAs? I'm applying to a MA program right now that is unfunded, unfortunately, which means lots more student loan debt
  23. Anyone know if sallie mae and nelnet keep making me pay on student loans if I enroll in graduate school?
  24. Only 2, and one of them was from UT-Austin. A UC-Boulder lady professor thanked me for email me and told me she looks forward to reading my application.
  25. Man Kbirch, you are gonna knock me out of UC Boulder, haha.
