  1. Hi I'm going to starting an MPhil in Education in October! What subject are you in for? I'm at Fitzwilliam college, what about you?
  2. I'd say Stanford! Did my undergrad there, their school of ed. is excellent
  3. Hi Yumpeh12, can you tell me a little about your experience at HGSE? I'm trying to chose between Penn and HGSE, Penn has given A WHOLE LOT MORE than HGSE. Well I won't have to take any loans so that's a major plus point for me but I'm just worried about giving up the Harvard name. I've heard that in terms of international education policy jobs at say World Bank a Harvard grad would be preferred over a Penn grad anyday.
  4. has anyone on this board received a Leadership in Education award? I'm guessing the decisions were released with the award letters
  5. well i mean we're just having a discussion right? when making a decision its good to hear both sides
  6. I am - I feel kinda stupid doing it (everyone around me also feels the same) but I don't like the program at my other (funded) choice, it's extremely focused and I want a broad perspective
  7. I was really leaning towards HGSE till someone pointed this out to me today, sort of made it sound like the M.Ed degree was worth less than an M.A. (this person is totally neutral - a family member - and my MA offer is from an equally competitive school)
  8. anyone else bothered by that there's no thesis? Also, I'm a little confused about this M.Ed. business..I'm guessing an M.Ed. doesn't involve a thesis whereas an M.A. does? Supposing I might want to apply for a PhD later, wouldn't not having done a thesis disadvantage me? I'm trying to chose between an MA and MEd and am a little bothered about the lack of a thesis..
  9. Hmm so what's the rent like in Harvard Square? I'm going to have to take a pretty substantial loan so I'm thinking if it'll only cost me say 2 thousand extra but realllly add to my experience might as well consider it
  10. Hey PhD2000s what would be a good place to live that's close enough but not too pricey? The dorms seemed really expensive and I'd prefer to cook myself
  11. hey JSOC, congrats!!! I got into IEAPA, but the tuition fellowship they are offering is pretty negligible. Have they offered you a graduate assistanship or an RA position as well?
