  1. 160+ on quant is great your verbal is not too bad but the analytical score doesn't look good. even though the writing section is a complete joke, a 2.5 will raise red flags. can to retake it- mainly for the writing?
  2. yes i would be happy to read it. im chemE and know quite a bit about the PetE field
  3. loric i w Exactly what i was thinking... the only thing is- not all schools ask for a resume. So thats why people feel they need to describe everything in their SOP..
  4. just take one project out..two is more than enough take the least impressive/ least relevant to what you want to do in your PHD out
  5. no...definitely put no...you weren't suspended, expelled, dismissed or required to withdraw from the COLLEGE you were just forced to switch from PhD to MA..... dont try to be brutally honest and 'do the right thing'...that will make it very easy for them to dismiss your app without giving you a chance then you've wasted your money, effort and time
  6. which schools are you applying to ? I would retake just to be on the safe side..you have excellent verbal and english scores
  7. if you can get basically a perfect score on verbal theres no reason you should be getting a 150 on math...which is nothing compared to the kind of math you do as a physics being female AND hispanic helps IMO..your GPA is fine especially if you went to a reputable school study for math, retake it and apply to whatever top schools you want to go to
  8. is your verbal score a 137? your post says 173
  9. yeah just do it... for me it was obvious- i dont want to be reading someones letter about me (even if its a good letter)
  10. a 160+ in quant would be great but do u really want to go thru the stress and waste money again? which schools r u applying to? how is ur GPA and the reputation of ur undergrad school?
  11. well an average of 3.7 GPA means there were people above and below a 3.7....and you're coming from an excellent school.... you have excellent GRE scores....your verbal is excellent and noone cares about verbal or AW..as long as they;re decent.. publications are not necessary to get into top programs...you have excellent research experience just apply... ....stop freaking out...
  12. yeah me too....and i definitely didnt want to start with "I want to do research at your school because..."
  13. hahahahaha....this is a joke right and you guys are playing along? i cackled at 'run marathons'.
  14. hey just APPLY.... if ppl on here tell you that you have no chance at the schools then you will either 1) not apply at all(in which case you'll have no chance of getting in ) or 2) apply but have a miserable 4 months of waiting and thinking you wont get in if people tell you that you have a great chance then you'll be overconfident...and then you'll be crushed IF you dont get admitted
  15. Anyone applying/ already applied? I am excited about it..especially the opportunity to intern with a big engineering company.
  16. yeah the promt will give you a good idea...most will ask 'reasons for graduate study' and in that case u can talk about why/how the field interests you
  17. your GRE scores are excellent...It would be great if it was the other was around though: 164 quant and 156 verbal. Your GPA is strong. Can you get it above a 3.5 this semester?
  18. Do you have to completely finish and submit your application before recommenders are sent emails with instructions?
  19. I think using your own style of writing will give it character. As long as its concise and to the point I just started mine (Chemical Engineering PhD). I'll take a look at yours
  20. are you joking? YES...retake it. your scores are horrible.
  21. my mouth dropped when I read "rape victim" be very VERY vague about what happened but still let them realize that it was something really serious that affected your grades.
