  1. If you read back a few pages you can find it, lots have already posted it.
  2. Question: When people are listing conferences, are these conferences you've attended or that you have presented at?
  3. Letter arrived here in Toronto, confirming my waitlisted status. 16.9/30
  4. Anyone else waitlisted this season? It seems like the majority of the responses thus far on the forum have been positive (congratulations to everyone!)
  5. Ooo....that is good to know (I hadn't looked into that part yet)! Looks like York will help fund massages that will help melt away the SSHRC stress
  6. This was through UofT? I'm headed to York for my PhD so I will be sure to inquire there about any other potential funding, although their funding package is already much better than what UofT could offer me so I'm (thankfully) in a pretty good position (fully funded, tuition and living stipend plus entrance scholarship)
  7. Good to know. Thankfully I have fantastic funding through the PhD program I am entering and have funding left over from my MA SSHRC that should get me by.
  8. Grad admin just got back to me. I have been "recommended but not funded, which means that you may receive an award at a later date should an award become available." I'm guessing this means wait-listed? Anyone have experience with this situation? Is it different from outright rejection?
  9. I wonder if they only want to contact successful applicants....the rest can wait for the mail
  10. Nothing in my Toronto mailbox. I might call my department and/or email them but I think they are unlikely to release the results over the phone o.O Anyone else at UofT hear results from their department? Edit: Emailed the grad administrative person for my department, also going to email the grad adviser.
  11. More information would help as the situation you describe is really vague. What degree are we talking about here? If he decides to try and go back to the other school it would be best to see if there is still a spot available to him before notifying the school he is currently set to go to of his intentions. If there is still a spot for him and he does decide to go there instead, he may need a formal written release from the school he is currently set to go to before things can proceed. Will he burn bridges? It's possible. Flip-flopping doesn't look very professional (not to the school he wants to leave and not to the one he wants to attend), but sh_t happens.
  12. Most schools have a minimum GPA that they require you to uphold as a condition of there offer (for example, on my acceptance letter two conditions were stipulated: 1) Successful completion of the program I am currently enrolled in; 2) Maintain a minimum B+ GPA). If your school does then it should have been listed on your acceptance letter. If maintaining a minimum GPA is not one of their listed conditions then don't worry about it and there is no need to notify them.
  13. Well put Numbered Thank you again!
  14. Thanks! Ugh. I keep going back and forth between: 'my guaranteed funding is awesome, even if I don't get sshrc this year I can reapply next year, no problem' and 'omg sshrc would make my life so much easier! and i don't want to face rejection!' sigh. Maybe on Monday. It's fantastic that there have been so many positive responses in this forum. Way to go everyone!
  15. Big congratulations to everyone who got positive news today! I'm waiting to hear either by mail or from UofT so we'll see if I hear anything on Monday. No one was answering their phone when I called them this afternoon.
  16. Were you successful then? Congrats! Debating calling me grad department but they tend not to be the most helpful o.O
  17. Nothing in my mail box today.
  18. Went to an uber fancy gala last night full of important people and word on the street was that SSHRC letters had left Ottawa and were now travelling via donkey cart to their destinations, but take that with a grain of salt! No one I spoke to could/would reveal how they received this info so I'm not putting much stock in it.
  19. No mail of any importance has been delivered to my Toronto mail box today
  20. lol. My mind is set on knowing by next Friday. That way, it will already be May and if it comes sooner then I will be pleasantly surprised
  21. Back pay. *sigh*. As if that makes the waiting and anxiety any better!
  22. I agree with Numbered. There is a reason that people are reacting strongly in this situation. Issues of bias, fairness, etc. are valid concerns. Also, the history of people trolling threads related to major awards and university admissions is easily observable in the majority of threads on this forum linked to major awards and admissions to major universities. Either way, the wait goes on for the vast majority of us. I will be sure to post when I hear in hard copy that I have won an award or not won, and if I hear sooner via the university I applied through I will let you know that too (and provide details, such as: what university I've heard from, what amount the award was for, etc. etc.)
  23. PhD applicants still haven't heard back. In the past it has been about a month after they receive word in the mail that MA applicants hear back.
  24. How is it that only brand new members are posting results? o.O I super hope results will be given out soon, and it would be great if Doc wasn't trolling, but I'm not holding my breath.
