  1. Well, I went ahead and answered my own question by emailing them. Just in case anyone else is interested, I was told that they are in the final stages of reviewing applications and I'll probably hear early next week. That doesn't really clarify why there was an admit posted yesterday, but oh well!
  2. Burgundykitten, I too am afraid I won't get in anywhere, and reading that last bit was incredibly reassuring =) Thanks for that.
  3. Quiet today. I'm really curious about the UC Boulder admit- if whoever posted that reads this, it'd be great if you could let me know what subfield you are, etc.
  4. Great, thanks for the info! That's interesting that there were fewer applications this year. I applied to the MA program and I had a brief Skype chat with Gerardo Gutierrez. I liked him a lot and definitely came away feeling enthused about the program, so I'm hoping I get in. I also did my undergrad in Colorado and have since moved away, but I would love to go back!
  5. Amen to that! It's difficult to schedule a nervous breakdown about your future when you have no idea at what point you should officially give up hope =P
  6. Out of curiosity, has anyone heard anything from University of Colorado Boulder? I had an informal Skype interview with a POI on February 10th and (in typical flakey anthropologist fashion!) I was told that they would make decisions in "One week...or two weeks...or a month."
  7. Huh, interesting, thanks for the info and good luck to you. And to you and all the other U of A applicants, whether or not I am admitted I do happen to be an Arizona native, so if any one gets in and has questions about Tucson I'd be more than happy to chat =)
  8. Wow, that story is INSANE. Almost makes me glad that Tulane rejected me!
  9. I really don't know what to think. The info that was posted on the results page was so random and it was hard to get a sense of much of anything from it. I'm tempted to call or email or something, but I'm too much of a wimp haha.
  10. I'm going nuts waiting on U of A too =\ Although at this point I've convinced myself that i'm not getting in anywhere, haha.
  11. Haha I feel your pain. No new hobbies, but I am working on numerous plan b's that somehow seem even more unrealistic than my plan a of going to grad school, haha. Get rejected from my top choice? Nevermind, I'll just go be a rock star instead.
  12. I KNOW! After the holiday yesterday I was thinking that a fair number of people would be getting news today, but there have hardly been any new results posted today. Ugh.
  13. Honestly I think you're over thinking this one a bit. As We Regret to Inform You said, I'm sure they are fielding LOTS of anxious calls this time of the year, so I really don't think you have to worry about being singled out as annoying/neurotic/obnoxious/etc.
  14. Wow, it's been quiet so far today. After the holiday yesterday I thought for sure I'd log on to see tons of new additions to the results page for my discipline, but there have hardly been any! I'm getting so impatient =\
  15. Well it sounds like you have it easier than me because in the BEST of circumstances I am impatient and anxiety ridden, haha. So far I've gotten 2 rejections and still have 7 schools to hear back from, and I'm already absolutely convinced I'm not going to get in ANYWHERE haha. So at least take solace in the fact that you are not crazy and that just about everyone is a nervous wreck right now.
  16. I don't have any brilliant insight, but I definitely empathize. I know of a few people who have received unofficial admits from POI's at MY dream school and since I haven't heard anything I've all but given up. I feel your pain, waiting isn't easy!
  17. I've done both a field school and worked as an osteological research assistant in the field, so hopefully it's not lack of experience that did me in. Then again, I DO know some very lucky individuals with generous parents who have been to 5+ field schools. Thanks for the input!
  18. Well, just got my first two responses, which were both rejections, so I think I'll be joining in on this thread as well... I'm also curious about suggestions to/from bioarch people. Edit: Also, does anyone know if there is any use in contacting graduate programs and asking for input on how you could improve?
  19. Any idea which schools this might apply to?
  20. Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to start preparing myself for disappointment, haha. But major congrats to you!
  21. I just saw that too. Freaking out a bit, so I'd love more details if anyone has them!
  22. Hm, thats a possibility, I hadn't thought about that. The impression I have gotten is that it's very highly regarded for archaeology. However, I live in Arizona, so I might be a bit biased in terms of simply hearing more about schools that are in state!
  23. Well, another acceptance has been posted. Does this feel like limbo or what?
  24. Thats a good point. I was wondering if maybe they made decisions about international students first since your deadline was a bit earlier, but this makes more sense.
  25. Nope and it's driving me crazy! Have you checked your online application status? Mine still reads "in review" =\ I never really had my hopes up in terms of getting into ASU, but it'd be nice to know for sure so I can cross it off my list. Did you apply to U of A as well? That's the other mysterious one.... A single rejection has been posted, but it's from an international student so who knows what that means for the rest of us.
