Never read Being and Time by Heidegger. It's not a novel, but it's a book nonetheless.

Thank you for that information. Ah, okay, we might have some time then. Yeah, a big factor must be the fit between student and faculty. I had correspondence to one really interesting professor there. His name is Morris Eaves. My writing sample was on Blake and I actually had used Eaves as a source for the paper well before I knew I'd be applying to URochester. Good luck to you and let's try to stay sane while waiting!

There are a few wait lists posted up on the results survey and one acceptance. Do you know if that acceptance was internal? They must've received a shit ton of good applicants if it is taking them this long to make decisions. Any word on the process there, wherewoolf?

Me too! I'm getting nervous bahhh.

No news for me yet... No news is good news? -
Anyone hear any word today?

That is a FUCKED UP response from a university. I can't believe they sent that to you. -

This is very true. We have extraordinarily similar research interests, portlandfioretti. Good stuff! -

I got that exact response from UWashington as well. -
I called there today and they said that they were still working on applications and it's taking them longer than they thought it would... a lot of applications this year. I'm still very curious as well.

Another wait list letter went up... I can't run home to check because I'm currently stuck on campus due to a tremendous snow storm (I'm in central NY). The suspense....

"To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour." This is the first stanza of William Blake's 'Auguries of Innocence'. One of my favorite verses (and poems) of all time. This verse kicks me in the face (in the best way possible) every time I read it. I've considered getting it tattooed to my body on numerous occasions.

Official rejection e-mail this morning.

But MSND has Bottom! Bottom turns into an ass! It's marvelously ironic. Falstaff is quite hilarious, though. The raillery that occurs between Falstaff and Prince Hal is good stuff. The play as a whole doesn't do it for me. I'm not a Shakespeare guy by any stretch, so my opinion is probably not as valid as those who study this stuff daily. I was very amused to find out that there is such a thing as Bardolatry, the unhealthy and excessive obsession with Shakespeare.
-
Nothing for me too. Hopefully within the next few days we shall hear word! hermia11- You're welcome! It is a wonderful play. I just finished reading Henry IV part I. Not nearly as lovely/enjoyable, in my opinion of course.

What?! There is a waitlist up... Must run home to mail box... NOW. Too bad I can't... I have class from 5:30-8. Now I definitely will not be able to pay attention.
-
Likewise! I thought we'd hear from Rochester already. Nice username, btw, hermia11. I just finished reading A Midsummer Night's Dream for my Shakespeare course!

I need a response from these folks. I'm antsy to the max.

To everyone in this forum community, Thank you for being so goddamned supportive. It's especially comforting to see such support for people who you don't even know. I love it. That's all.
-
This. I feel you. I hope we both get into Rochester. I hope you get in to one (with funding). I really do. Third season of applications must be extraordinarily difficult to handle. This whole process has been messing with me to no end.
-
I wold kill for a wait list at this point. Kill. Luckily I'm still in the running for both the University of Oregon and the University of Rochester. They have been my two top choices all along. Everyone here needs hugs. Many hugs. It's so hard for me to see the other threads where people are like "how do I politely tell six schools (or x amount of schools) that I need to pass up my acceptance?" I wish people could just donate acceptances over, haha.
-
I send everyone here a massive hug. I've still yet to be accepted to a program. I'm having an existential crisis at the moment.

This. Yes. One of my favorite shows on TV. It bums me out a little bit, though, because most of them have PhDs and I want one too.
