  1. I would recommend getting a laptop, but trying not to use Logos or Bibleworks too much. Rather, struggle with the material, looking up each word that you don't know, and trying to commit it to memory. The bells and whistles are very nice, and indeed time-efficient, but there is something about the struggle of learning that makes learning all the more memorable (and memorizable!) I have a friend who uses an Ipad to organize his material, but other than that, it's mostly a toy. Also, Diablo 3 is coming out 5/15/2012 so...yea... time to upgrade.
  2. Should let you all know that Harvard CSR has released. I don't want to be a killjoy, but if you have not yet received an email from them, expect to be rejected or (hopefully!) waitlisted! It seemed that last year rejections were sent through snail mail so be checking your mailboxes. I hope you guys all get in somewhere and even if you don't, that you find (and you will!) something meaningful and fulfilling and altogether wonderful.
  3. I'm curious about how you guys know what you want to do. If you want to go into Academia, how are you so certain about it? Was it some great professor during your undergrad? Do you have an axe to grind? Do you feel like you can only exist within the structured confines of an academic institution? Does your faith depend on it, or, negate it? Are you on an intellectual journey, or, are you just being pushed by momentum? Have you already invested to much in it to give it up? I'm curious. Tell me.
  4. Uhhhh, that's not Shakespeare. Or.. is there something I'm missing.
  5. Yale just notified. Rejected! It wasn't a good match anyways, but I hope some lucky few will enjoy their time there!
  6. Did anyone who applied to Yale to work with Hayes and Fraade receive an interview? I figure this is a shot in the dark, but why not.
  7. And we're absolutely sure that Yale won't admit you unless they interview you, right? NOOOOOOO! Oh well
  8. Were you interviewed before your acceptance, and if so, when?
  9. Princeton just sent out email. rejected here. NOOOOOOO!
  10. Hi Hanover, I applied to the Ancient Religions of the Mediterranean program. My POI is Himmelfarb, but I am sad that Peter Schafer is retiring next year. I did not receive an interview, so my chances of getting in are not as good as others. My girlfriend got an interview as long ago as January, though. They said that an interview did not guarantee admittance, but it was definitely a good sign! Hope this helps
  11. Good News > Bad news > No News = Sturm und Drang of waiting!
  12. Who else thinks that Princeton is going to release tomorrow? Dun dun dun, I've had my cell phone next to me this entire day just in case I get a phone.
  13. Haha, Majlin, I think you just called 11Q13 "Latte"
  14. I was accepted into the ThD program at Harvard Divinity. They are giving me 24.5k for Stipend, and 5k for Summer Stipend = 29.5k for the first two years. Teaching begins third year on which will be comparable to the 24.5k Stipend. The Summer stipend continues throughout.
