Do they actually notify the recruits if they dont get funding?
Quantum Buckyball replied to Chukwu Chucks's topic in The Bank
Some of the schools I applied to required me to submit a secondary application for assisstantship. Have you talked to any of the current students in your program about this? It's normal for graduate students in the STEM field to get assisstantship right away, but I'm not sure about your program though. I would submit an application to FAFSA as a backup plan as soon as possible. -

They will only notify you if you have applied for it. Some schools requires you to submit a secondary application for assistantship. Is it normal for your major to receive assistantship? One of my friends didn't receive any until his second year in graduate school and he's a MBA major. -
How to get academics/scholars to respond to email?
Quantum Buckyball replied to hejduk's topic in The Lobby
I think the best way to get an established scholar to reply back your email is to be sincere, and a sentence-long email just won't do it. You should first introduce yourself, which group you're in, what kind of projects you're currently working on, and why you're contacting the person. Another way to get a person to reply back your email is to ask questions about their most recent publications and start from there. You need some kind of ice break first, -

I would wait until the national deadline and then contact them again. I think they're probably busy finishing the application process for people who are on the waiting list. Once everything's finalized they'll start sending out official acceptance package, at least that's the case for the school I'm attending this fall.

You will be fine as long as you maintain a competitive GPA at your current school. Make sure you have some other extracurricular activities related to your field to boost up your application. I've had 1.6 GPA for one semester (4 Ds, 1 C, and 1 A) back in undergraduate..

If your goal is to get a PhD in Pharmacology or Chemical Biology, then a semester long of physical chemistry should be sufficient. Two semesters physical chemistry is more for Engineering or Chemistry related field.

I think I've heard about agencies like this before. I thought they just mostly give you advice about personal statement, study tips for the standardized exam, interview practices, etc. I'm not so sure about the personal contacts with the admission directors though (I would think that's illegal). You can easily get accepted into a Caribbean medical school without a MCAT score, or have a low GPA. That's only if you, your friends or family members can help you out with tuition, 90% of the Caribbean medical schools aren't qualified for US Federal Student Loans, so you will need to take out personal loans from private sectors.
