  1. Sorry about the delay! The Open House was a good opportunity to meet the students and faculty. There were a lot of current students around to talk to during the whole day, and the faculty came in the morning and told us about their roles in the program (and some had lunch with us). The faculty definitely emphasized that they admitted people that they thought would be successful in the program. It seemed like they were really close and comfortable with the students, which was one of my concerns because it is a one-year program. The students who were there talked to us about how much they liked the cohort model, their internships, their courses, how they found housing, and what they hope to do after completing the program. They told us that like, only one person has not completed the program...basically that the school and faculty work really hard to make sure you have enough support to finish. And they also said that the latest anyone has found a job after graduation is November, which seems pretty impressive. You could definitely tell that the students were confident in the program, and many were very well-spoken about how their experiences will prepare them for a career in student affairs. Sorry for the long winded reply! Those were my general impressions. If you would like to know more, I would be happy to PM!
  2. No prob! I'll definitely update about it. I've been in touch with a student currently in my program, who's been really helpful (though I haven't had that many questions, to be fair). I know that internships are part of my program, so I asked how we get placed in the specific internships...if there are enough opportunities, if you get to choose based on your interests or if it's more complicated that that. According to the student I've been talking to, there's a big list of different types, and students pick and apply for the ones that interest them. Maybe ask UCLA if they can put you in touch with a student in HEOC and see if they do assistantships/interships?
  3. It's definitely different for different programs-- UCLA Student Affairs' Open House is March 8! Also, Santa Barbara told me they doesn't have a specific visit day, but you can schedule your own visit with your advisor.
  4. They had a thread like this last year and I think it was a good place to discuss and wait out the notifications together Which schools are you waiting for/considering? I'm waiting for Berkeley and Davis!
  5. I listed Language, Literacy, and Culture first, then School Organization and Education Policy, and then Learning and Mind Sciences.
  6. I'm also waiting! My application was only complete about a month ago because they hadn't received my transcript >.< so I'm expecting to hear later...
  7. I got accepted to UC Santa Barbara for Ph.D yesterday! I just got an automated email linking me to the decision website, so I was thrown off when it was actually good news Is there anyone on the forum with info about the program and/or funding?
  8. I went to Brown for undergrad and concentrated in Education...I don't know specifics about UEP, but if you have questions about life at Brown/PVD or about professors, feel free to PM me!
  9. Oops, I looked at the email again and I was told the date for "Preview Day", not "Admit Day" lol. It's April 12th!
  10. I got accepted to UCLA's Masters in Student Affairs program, which is different degree but also in the HEOC division of GSEIS it's nice to see someone else considering UCLA! So far I'm pretty lacking in information about the school, but since I live nearby I'm hoping to visit before the Admit Day. Feel free to PM me?
  11. Hello! I just got the call yesterday from UCLA (Student Affairs), which was a big surprise for me! Is there anyone on here that applied to UCLA GSEIS or knows about their Student Affairs program? Most of my research has come from their website. Best of luck to everyone waiting! I'm still waiting for a few too, hopefully it won't be too long...
  12. Rejected :/ sad but at least the roller coaster is over for now...
  13. At least they are saying that the decisions are still going out? From the results forum it looks like some grad departments at Berkeley told the applicants that they should have received something by now, and since they didn't it just means they were rejected...but I guess those of us looking out for SCS decisions are still staying a bit afloat in the waiting boat?
  14. phew...the roller coaster may soon be over? Good luck everybody!
  15. Good luck! I saw that result post as well...but it was from a phd applicant so I was thinking that ma decisions will come after...so many conflicting feelings! I want to know but I don't want to call...
  16. Hello Gradcafers! Ive been lurking around the forums for a few days, but wanted to post that I too am waiting on Berkeley's SCS MA decision! And the boat of anxiously awaiting applicants is a little bigger Good luck to everyone waiting too! Even though we might just be waiting for bad news, I figure that until someone here hears something, we still can't be sure
