Hey come on, I thought NSERC was about helping out Canada, not bailing out and moving to the states
Well Canada would prefer to hire US school graduates as faculty members cause they know the quality of research there is really good, so move to US work hard for 4 years get a PhD with high quality publications and come back to serve Canada.

Just heard that I was awarded a PGS-D, little bit frustrating that it is not a CGS-D but I will take it.
Congrats, I would say take your PGS to a big school in US such as MIT or Stanford so you wouldnt be sad about CGS. and really if you have the chance to take your award outside do it there is a BIG difference for your future.

NSERC have told me on the phone that no letters were sent yet ??
So how a person in Ottawa receive a letter ???
Well they told some other person that PDF letters were mailed yesterday, so I think nobody know whats happening in NSERC
. Maybe there is fight between the mailman and NSERC staff and some letters go to the mailman side some to NSERC staff. -

I am in CS, one is Intel R&D the other is IBM Dev. I am actually worried about job stability I have never been in industry and heard you might be layed off any minute. I am not even sure if I would have the time to publish in a developing position but at least its something new to me since I lived in school doing research since I remember.

Ok now that I am 100% sure I wont get PDF, what do guys think a bout a research vs development industrial position? I have to decide which one to take by the end of this week and they are both approx the same salary.

Applied through U Windsor biology (now at a different school), no offer, aka rejected.
Have 1 primary journal paper, 1 submitted and about 8 conference presentations (mix of presenting and co author) and a tech report to a lake management committee. Thankfully I have alternative funding.....

For me (CGS/PGS), it doesn't change the start date so I'm not worrying too much...
Well I have asked two employers to postpone the date I can accept their offers to March 31th, I do have a one year postdoc offer but wont go to it if I dont get NSERC and prefer to go to my job offers. The only thing is the employer thinks I am crazy since I have told them I have no idea when I can reply to you anymore!!!

Yeah, I guess we have holiday on Monday and not Friday
I had not idea Monday was a holiday in Canada
