  1. I am in Montreal and didn't receive anything. When do you usually receive letters in the afternoon or the morning time ?
  2. Your supervisor is not aware of the situation then. I know at least 10 phd students in France for example, I've been in France myself at one of their most prestious engineering schools ( Ecole des mines de paris ) , and believe me, the number of publications is incomparable with the publications in Canada or the USA. In addition, in european countries, it's typical to find 8 authors for the same paper !! lol everyone puts their names , it's really silly !!!! Maybe you should consider Cambridge and Oxford as good universities and researchers, the others are not that performant !
  3. If you don't receive the letter today it means that you got a rejection ?
  4. There is an invention called the internet, and a friend called Google that the reviewers can retrieve relevant information from.
  5. Anyone who's received NSERC letter ?
  6. Do not worry, you will get it :-)
  7. yeah could be. some other people use an another strategy a friend told me about. In some labs, for every publication, everybody writes down their name as an author, but the position of their names depends on their respective contributions. So at the end of the day, they end up with a huge number of publications :-)
  8. Any news for NSERC ?
  9. Cool. Thank you for your clarification :-) But the problem of "fast publishing journals" , is that they do not have a great impact factor, and my supervisors usually don't go for them, still it could be a nice strategy to try both
  10. I can't understand something, if a journal paper takes between 5 months and 1 year to be published, how can a person publish 14 in 4 years ? ( not considering the conferences ? )
  11. Thank you dude, wish you all the best as well ! :-)
  12. yes, you're right. You're right. There are also some other criteria, like transcripts, community works, leadership ...etc. We'll see what will happen tomorrow as I expect people in montreal will get their letters tomorrow.
  13. I'd go for vanier if I have the same chance. I have been nominated by my university for Vanier as well. But as I think that my application is too weak for NSERC now, what would I say about vanier !! I do not believe I will take any of them !!! It feels that people have become journal/conference machine generators lol
  14. you can do a post doc for one single year ! can't you ? Anyway, good luck. :-) I started to loose hope to win NSERC :-/ it feels my file is so weak compared to others ((
  15. I've read that a guy who won it over here has 37 publications ??? wooooo ! lol
  16. what is the range of post doc funds offers ? 40 k$ ?
  17. PGS/CGS applicant. I hope I still have a chance, my journal is published in 2012, and two conferences in 2011, first author.
  18. ok cool , can you list your publications ? I just have 1 journal, 4 conferences, 1 book chapter
  19. Marmoor what is your univ in Montreal ?
  20. You're right stud007, it's really amazing that they didn't consider this solutions as the online session is secure enough to declare the results on !!! At least they could email these results to all the faculties !!! I don't know why they want to follow the old way fashion !
  21. Hi @Marmoor , I'm from Montreal and didn't receive any mail today !
  22. How this aleksessex got notified ?
  23. Can someone win Vanier CGS and NSERC CGS at the same time ?
  24. I believe universities get notified before the candidates themselves ...
  25. I emailed the graduate studies office last friday and here is their response : Dear ......, At present, Concordia University has not received any notification from NSERC regarding the results of the competition. Once we received this information, we shall inform our students immediately. Best regards, ......
