  1. Has anyone else heard back from CSUDH?
  2. This is too broad a question, i think. What are you looking for in a program? Class size? Location? Concentration? Special interests? Classes?
  3. Same ole. Big applicant pool, not enough to accommodate everyone. Due to the high volume of applicant they cannot give individual feedback.
  4. Woo, finally received my letter and have decided to take the position and wait another year. Hope to come across some of you in the future!
  5. No word yet, incredibly frustrating. My employer is offering a supervisory position as a case manager and I think it will be great experience, but I can't make any decisions until these schools get back to me! I don't want to pass this opportunity to move up if I don't get in anywhere, so I emailed Duan about my situation. Hopefully that will prompt an official statement.
  6. Seriously, this is ridiculous. Should I just withdraw my application since I know I'm already rejected? At least I'll know where I stand then.
  7. I'm not sure tbh. I'm positive fullerton's letter of declination is on it's way too, not sure what's taking them so long. CSUDH is the only one left and though LB has always been my top choice, if DH accepts me, I don't think I would turn them down. However, if I don't get into any schools this year, I will definitely re-apply.
  8. Thank you! That would be great! I would appreciate any help and advice anyone has. I PM'd you btw.
  9. Aww eff that. Welp, waiting a year it is.
  10. Does anyone know if transferring is any easier ?
  11. Well I hope they don't think this is gunna stop me Lol. I can only go up from here. I'm young, smart and only have experience to gain. Best of luck to all of you. I'm going to apply in October. Maybe applying early will do the trick.
  12. Just received my letter of declination. Can't believe it.
  13. I hear ya. Personally, I would've liked my rejection letter weeks ago. Especially if they knew I had slim to no chance..why drag it out?
  14. Letters will be sent out pretty soon guys.
  15. Hmm I wonder how long they'll wait until they finalize everything. I also wonder where I am in the waitlist Lol. Did he tell you where you stand on the list?
  16. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it'll be through email first. Duan said that they typically don't send out rejections until the cohorts are both filled and finalized.
  17. Pretty sure I'll be receiving a rejection letter. Was offered to have a sit down to review my application. Hurry up and reject me already. I'm ready. Lol
  18. I guess since there's no thread for csudh, I figured I'd start one. Any updates? CSUDH is notorious for taking forever to send out notices. Like, seriously forever. Longer than LB. I was told that they're still reviewing applications and that they would continue to do so until both cohorts were filled. They told me they'd hope to have my decision by mid to the end of June. I applied to CMH and right now it's my second choice next to LB.
  19. I'm so sorry I truly wish you all the best. I know that this whole process will make you an even better social worker.
  20. I would go for it. you have nothing to lose at this point. They can't penalize us for advocating for ourselves Lol that would be against our code of ethics.
  21. T minus three days.. Lol just give me my rejection letter already.
  22. I PM you. Search around this site for forums speaking specifically about the drawbacks of mentioning mental health issues. I hope they help.
  23. if there is any way that that information is available for the program to see, like if it's in your transcript, then your best bet would be to own up to it, acknowledge it and state how it will be different this time. If not, and it didn't affect your own personal criminal record (I don't know what type of disciplinary actions were taken here, no offense),then there's no need to mention it and raise potential red flags.
  24. I agree. ^^ I think you have a really good chance. My best friend switched from law school to child development and she showcased why she felt she could make a bigger impact with a master's in child development that she could ever in law. Programs are gunna focus on your undergradate work more than what came after, and still you're law gpa isn't terribly low. You meet the minimum. I think paired well with a meaningful statement if purpose, experience and LORs you should be fine. There are MANY professionals who switch over to social work, that alone speaks volumes.
