  1. Another thing to watch out for with Interfolio is the delay in getting letters out. Even requesting that one to be emailed (which in this day and age should be pretty instantaneous) takes 24 business hours. I requested one on Friday after hearing back from UCSD that they would accept it, and it still hasn't been sent. It won't go out until tomorrow. I believe if you have them upload it into an application the turn around is something like 3 business days. It was frustrating because I even emailed Interfolio to ask if there was a way to speed it up and got an automated response that no one would answer my question until Monday.
  2. ETS publishes percentile scores on their site. This way you can see where you rank among test takers. Also, check to see if the program you're applying to pubilshes data about accepted students. This will help you determine if you're in the range you need to be in http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/scores/understand/
  3. Thanks all. I was hoping that was the case. I think that all the little things here and there in my application that are less than stellar are starting to add up in my head and this one sent me over the edge. My PI read my SoP and said it was easily one of the best she'd ever read (which was because I had some really great help with it), so hopefully it'll take some weight out of my low analytical score. I wish I'd thought to get someone with a fine arts background to read it, but most of my apps are due in the next couple days. Azarashi, yes, I agree that Quant score seems most important. I was really bummed with mine because I was scoring much higher on my practice tests, but I guess that's what I get for taking the GRE too late for a redo. I thought I had seen somewhere that Duke's average admitted applicant to the Neuro PhD last year was in the 77% for Q. I can't find it now, so maybe I've gotten my schools confused. It seemed to good to be true. Really, all of my schools are "reach" schools for the most part. I'm just hoping that research experience, LORs and recent coursework help me stand out. I made sure I was ok with the possibility of having to reapply next year before I shot this high. Although, I would still be super bummed. What an emotional rollercoaster! I'm starting to think we're all out of our minds for pursuing this
  4. Yep, I'm in the same spot. I've called most schools and they provided an email address I can have Interfolio send to. One school said I could use the upload form and that it would be ok that all additional fields are blank. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that schools aren't more flexible on this point.
  5. ETS finally release my scores today and I made an embarrassing 3.5 of my writing section (30%). There's no time to retake before apps are due this year. I knew I'd screwed up because my nerves got the best of me and I ran out of time on the second essay, not even able to proof read. I scored 161/86% in Verbal, and 159/77% in Quant. Based on GRE scores alone, how screwed am I? I'm applying to PhD programs in Neuroscience. Any input or experiences would be greatly appreciated
  6. Yes, I had to turn my scratch paper in to get more. I could not bring my own pencils or watch in. I could wear a sweater if I wanted but if so, was not allowed to take it off during the test. You present your ID when you sign in and then must keep your ID face up on the desk for the duration of the test (I'm assuming since you're on video). They are very strict.
  7. I'm applying to 11. My letter writers encouraged me to apply to more when I was at 7. Most of mine could be considered "reach" schools and I would be excited to attend any of them because I have found labs at each school that are doing research in the area that I am pursuing. I don't care to relocate for a mediocre program and have come to terms with the possibility of reapplying next year on those conditions.
  8. I took it last Tuesday and they gave me a 8.5 x 11" booklet of 2 pages, 4 counting front and back. At any point I could hold up my hand and exchange it for a new one. You may be able to request special accomodations, but my testing center was small and it took 20 seconds or so to get a new booklet. Hope that is helpful. Good luck!
  9. My most difficult Quant section was the first of three. I can only guess it was my experimental section? I didn't see Venn diagrams, but a lot of multistep permutations. Ended up with a 159Q. I was averaging 163-164 in my practice tests so that was a bummer
  10. I took the GRE yesterday as well and had one wacky Quant section. It was my first and I was just praying that it was experimental (but seriously threw me off my game). I ran out of time before I'd made it through. Was hoping to score a few points higher as well, as my practice test scores were indicating so. Maybe it'll be reflected in the percentiles once those are released?
