I'll have to chat with some of my colleagues who went there previously to get their opinion, but from the research I've done so far I'm leaning towards graduate housing. As much as I prefer off-campus living, they seem to have decent studio adn one-bedroom options.

The GRE will not kill you. Just had to get that out of the way. You have given yourself plenty of time to study the test materials, essay prompts, and question formats. You can "beat" this exam. Even if you don't score in the 99th percentile in V/Q/A, you can achieve the scores you need to be a competitive applicant. I'm someone who only ever experienced test anxiety over the GRE. It really, really sucks. BUT you can get through this like the rest of us here have! Prepare so well that you'll only have to take it once and never ever think about geometry again.

I heard back from Chicago SSA last Friday. I applied on January 10. I haven't heard back from Michigan SSW, except for an email sent today confirming my complete application. I applied on January 10 but I also applied to a special program, so perhaps I'll hear back soon.

I hope you get to see it soon, @haltheincandescent! Hell, I hope I get to see it again as well for their MPP program.
-
University of Chicago had the same thing! It was very cute. I reopened my admission letter 4 times to see it.

Alright, well I'm somewhat glad to hear I'm not alone in that regard! According to previous cycles on the Results Search page, we may get some news from UCLA in the latter half of February. Patience truly is a virtue.
-
By the way, I'm scoping out everyone's admission-related signatures. I'm picking up some neat design tips and will go edit mine accordingly to waste more time!

I thought I'd be more relaxed after receiving my first acceptance notice... but if anything the frequency of checking my email inbox and the Results page has tripled since last week. I want ALL the admissions decisions. Please?
-
Are there any other applicants to UCLA MSW around here? Rather, has anyone attempted to ask UCLA admissions about when they'll announce decisions?
-
This program is draaaagging out the admissions notifications. Last week my app was in "Final Review", now today it's "Decision Made" which means within the next business day I should get an email about the actual decision being posted. An hour later I get an email from the school, prepare my body for some news, but then it's just a notice about what to do if you applied to dual degree programs and get accepted...which I don't know about yet!! Drop the news already, please!
-
Yep, Monday morning means another wave of impending application notification stress.

A central thread for all of us who applied to University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration for the 2016-2017 academic year. AM and PhD applicants welcome! SSA has been alerting applicants of acceptances so far, as far as I know--I haven't seen any rejection or wait list notices on the Results page yet. Admitted Students' Weekend is April 8-9 2016, which unfortunately is the same weekend as my friend's wedding which I'm a bridesmaid for. I still plan to visit the school this spring but it will have to be a more informal session. If anyone else plans to go, please share your experience!

Thanks everyone! It feels to great knowing that I got into one program. I'm officially attending a graduate school program this fall! But the wining, waiting and whining continues for the rest... and that's where delicious alcohol comes in to save the day.

You're in the right place, @Schwarzwald. Wine is optional, but encouraged.

I'm celebrating my acceptance into UChicago with a Chicago-brewed beer: Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout. Absolutely delicious.

I'm still waiting to hear back from 11 other programs, haha. I applied to dual MPP/MSWs at six universities, so I have a lot more waiting to do. Hey, you never know! I don't think any of us know what to expect out of this process anymore. But belated congrats on getting into Michigan yesterday!

Any late Dec/early Jan applicants? Waiting is so difficult!
RCtheSS replied to Foreveronward's topic in Waiting it Out
lol! This is only one program out of 12 total, so I'll continue to wait in anxiety with you all. To be honest, I like them a lot more since they included a scholarship award in the letter. -

I submitted an application January 10, didn't get all my LORs in until January 15, and received an acceptance today. What the hell is going on?! Still kind of shocked. -
I got into UChicago SSA!!! This is CRAZY, I submitted my application on January 10 and did not expect to hear back so soon! Also received a Dean's Distinguished Leadership Award!! I just flipped out all over the office at work!
-
Firstly, congrats! When did you submit your application to Michigan? I submitted mine January 10, and I have seen the "Transcript not received" message on the Wolverine Access portal as soon as I was able to access it.
-
Just received an email from one of my programs. They're going to start releasing admission decisions no later than next week!
-
Just received an email from Minnesota Humphrey about a fellowship opportunity to apply for, with this leading paragraph: "We hope that your winter is going well. In the Office of Admissions, we are reading applications and admission decisions will begin to be sent out no later than next week for applicants who applied by the December 15th deadline, with decisions beginning to be sent in mid-February for those who applied by the January 15 deadline." SOON.

You're welcome! I can't wait until I can make another edit to my signature, haha. I'm starting to hit a wall of impatience waiting to hear back from programs, but January is just about over so time is indeed passing! We've got this.

Look under "Account Settings" instead of "Profile".
