To their credit, the admissions office at Evans stated in emails that they'll be announcing news "between early February and mid March". So there's still plenty of time for those of us who haven't heard back yet! Sending positive e-vibes to us all.

Did anyone else watch Better Call Saul last night? I love that they've been able to develop a spin-off to Breaking Bad that can totally stand up on its own two week. There's so much to learn about the life and times of Saul Goodman. In whining news, I haven't received any more admissions notices for the past week. It looks like two of the programs I applied to are trickling out their admit emails day by day instead of releasing them all at once, which kinda grinds my gears, but what can you do?

When did you apply to UW? If you applied by the December deadline they should be announcing at the end of February, which still gives you two weeks to hear some news. I applied for the January deadline for a notice at the end of March, so I'll be very thankful to hear anything before then.

I received an email upon application submission. You can log into the application portal to see whether your app is completed. Still no news on my end, either. I had a nice streak of admissions news, and now it's been very quiet in my inbox for the past week!

This website has a Results Search page where applicants can post their admissions decisions. You can find it here: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/ So definitely add your acceptance onto the database! Congratulations!

The only grad school email I received today was info about a fellowship from a program I was admitted to. Alas, I don't meet the eligibility criteria for the fellowship. At least I'm spending the holiday weekend visiting UChicago! I've never been to the Windy City before so I'm very excited to explore the campus and city as a whole.

Aha, yes! This is a very important distinction.

I don't understand why we can't follow the lead of some animals and just hibernate. My body pretty much wants to whenever I wake up and it's below freezing. Just let us sleep until March!

What time do y'all conduct your daily admissions status check? I'm going to hold off until 1pm today to give the west coast some time to wake up, haha.

I told my supervisor at my job last year around this time about my plans to apply for graduate school in fall 2016 admission. I know it was pretty ahead of the game to do so, but I planned to apply to many programs and I wanted her as an LOR, so I wanted to give her that courtesy. My position is entry-level and on average people stay between 1-2 years before continuing their education or moving up elsewhere. Ultimately I asked my super and our org's executive director to write LORs for me. Now the whole office knows I plan to leave this summer. I'm very thankful to have such supportive colleagues who've helped to mentor me and reassure me of my career path.

I'm honestly concerned about UCLA's overall funding situation. I know someone who got into their political science Ph.D program and they couldn't offer him any funding...that's a huge red flag for me that a doctoral program can't support its first-year students! I know they're different departments and all, but it's still interesting. I guess we'll have to see if the MSW program has any funding to spare.

I think UCLA is only going to alert us via email or their website. Their MPP program (also within the Luskin School) told me that they don't plan to send a physical copy of the acceptance letter.

Yeah, I turned back on the Gmail alerts on my phone. Now every time my phone buzzes and it's another message about a stupid sale at Macy's, I get flustered.

How do the funding packages offered by each program compare? Do you have a POI at each program whose ongoing research interests align with your own?

2 for 2 on MPP programs so far! Also 2 for 2 on the MSW side... still holding out for a MPP and MSW acceptance at the same university

According to results search, University of Washington is trickling out a few decisions at a time this week. Perhaps more of us will get a notice back after the holiday weekend.

I think it's worth your time to research other programs offered, perhaps starting in neighboring states, to see if their course offerings and research opportunities would be better fits.
