I'm only waiting one one. more. program. I called them earlier this week and my application is "in the review stage" (after two months). I just want all the decision information so I can finish my program comparison spreadsheet!
-
Same. Once y'all said you logged in to see notices, I checked the portal.

I'm in! I was offered a Dean's Scholarship of $10,000 per year. I think I might try to leverage a bit, but I'll have to think about how to go about it. I also can't attend the open house, but at least I stopped by the school while visiting SSA last month.
-
I would first wait for the HKS funding decisions. If I happened to receive an aid package lower than Columbia's, I would reiterate to HKS that it is my top choice for strong reasons but that I would need financial aid assistance to make that a reality. I would compare the cost of living in Cambridge vs. NYC because living expenses will inevitably be calculated on top of tuition and fees. I would also review curricula and faculty research once more just to make sure each program provides the educational resources and program fit that I'm looking for.

That's just a personal preference of mine. I'm not sure how a program office would read into a bulleted list of each offer as described in the above template. I would not list the other offers in detail that I had received unless they pushed me on it. I'm not laying all my cards out on the table, so to speak.

So after speaking with multiple colleagues with MSW degrees, and hearing word of mouth about folks who went to Columbia's MSW program (this serves as a disclaimer of subjective and anecdotal evidence to follow)... It is not worth it, especially if you are aiming to do clinical work. Why go into debt for an inflated concept of prestige when you can easily graduate with little to no debt? You will still be able to enter your field of interest after completing a program at Rutgers, except you won't have student loans looming over you as you establish your career. For me, personally, it isn't worth the investment. Follow the money! The Ivy League ain't always what it's cracked up to be.

A number of my colleagues have encouraged me to advocate for myself and to try to negotiate funding offers between programs. However, I don't know if there's some cure-all template in doing so. I personally wouldn't try to leverage funding offers between every program I was accepted into; only try to ask the programs you really, really would like to go to if you could afford to. Then you can reiterate that to them however you wish: "This program is my top choice for this, that, and the other thing, and I would absolutely attend within a reasonable cost." You could mention that you have received comparable funding offers from other programs, but I'd be wary about sharing too much of this information (they might follow up to ask which school in particular, and/or exactly how much). Even if you formulate the perfect ask, you could very well receive a "No" for one reason or another. It would be great if more folks who have been successful at this inquiry could share their experiences; I'm pretty sure there have been other topics related to this, if you haven't searched already.

It certainly depends on fellowship funding for me. I received funding from SSA (around 60% of tuition+fees per year), so Harris needs to match or beat that offer so I can make the dual degree program work feasibly. That, or provide a work-study position.

University of Michigan Social of Social Work Fall 2016

So I did call this morning, and I got the same answer you did! Three seconds after I told the counselor my name, I was told my application is in the "review stage" and I should hear back soon... come on, man. I bet it's been in review for the entire two months they've had it, lol. I'd rather be told I'm on a wait list. -
Ah, thanks! Unfortunately I've already planned a whole week off work between 03/25-04/03 to visit other programs, so I'm not sure I can swing the last-minute flight back to LA. The MPP welcome day is April 4, which would have been perfect otherwise, but that's a lot of missed time off. I really need to start making acceptance/declining decisions... I did NOT expect my signature to have so much green.

We're all in agreement there, haha. It's been a long, anxious two months but it's almost over.
-
They've been pretty clear for months, on both their admissions page and in email correspondence, that March 11 will be the notification date. It's only two days!
-
So I got a call back from Tiffany, but it was just a "welcome and congrats" conversation; it doesn't sound as if I received any particular fellowship offer. That could possibly change once I receive the official correspondence from the Social Welfare department, but I'm keeping my hopes low. @MrsKozee: when is the admitted student event?
-
I was out to lunch when she called! I've called her back three times but it goes to her voicemail. I'll try again after my next meeting.
-
This legit makes me upset. It's like we've all been waiting this out for months but it's not the same unless we all get the good news together.
-
Checked on my own! I also received a call from Tiffany, but I have to return her call. Thanks so much for all your support, @MrsKozee!!
-
FINALLY! Checked the AppStatus portal and there it was: an acceptance letter.
-
Today's going to be full of activity on the Results Search. Best of luck to everyone who applied to HKS and WWS.

University of Michigan Social of Social Work Fall 2016

Hm, I never want to be the one to call an admissions office but I'm very curious about my application status now. I applied January 11 and received confirmation of a completed application on February 3. -
They forgot about us, @anony2888.
-
Chances are that as folks with fellowships decline their offers, more funding will become available for others.

Nothing yet. I applied on January 11, IIRC. Since then, the only correspondence I've received was an email confirming my completed application. Hopefully we'll both hear back soon! -
Yep! Been waiting ever since I got accepted into Chicago SSA.
-
LOL, seriously. Just drop the news already.

I know who you are, fellow PPIAer! I won't be able to go to Spring Preview weekend because I'm in my best friend's bridal party that weekend. Already regretting my decision.
