Hi Guys, I just came back from an interview weekend. Can't say much about how it went, it felt like speed dating for 2 hours with 4 POIs. By the end of the interviews two of them said I should call them and ask any question if I have any. I am just wondering if I really need to call them and follow up on the admissions, because in the interviews we only talked about research and nothing else. And I know I need to make appointment about calling them, so it is quite awkward for me now. thank you guys!!!

I am very nervous too!! I don't even have a specific POI to talk to...I hope we have enough time to talk with all of them in one day...

The only problem is that when I talked to the guy in October he told me there is no committee, applications are forwarded to individual professors and they get to pick. Sucks!

Hi guys, I just received an invitation to Loyola Chicago in Feb. I am just wondering how their Ed.S. program is. And because I am applying from Canada, I have to send an evaluation, which I did not realize until today. The main reason I applied to Loyola was because of the free online application, and now when the evaluation costs $140 and 1 month to finish I am serioulsy considering withdrawing my application. Anybody have any idea if LUC is worth that $140? Thanks!

contacting profs may be a good idea. if they really pick out your application and notice some missing things, they will let you know. that's what happened to me. my poi actually told me that my statement is missing but CV is showing up twice.

Hey a friend of my is doing her masters in goetingen. The school is associated with Max-Plank institute so it should be good. She is having fun there. I did a year of exchange at Ulm, great experience, but I spent too much time travelling. I dont think Ulm has a psychology program, they have a neurobiology program that looks mainly at insects and animals.

oh well, i emailed profs i talked to in october about my finished application. None of them replied, I just assumed they are busier now than before...But I AM losing my mind.

Hi Guys, I just got my GRE scores, V161 Q165 AW3.5 >_< I took the GRE on Oct 3rd, so I can only retake it after Nov 3rd. Will that be too late for applications due on Dec 1st? I am applying to Psych Ph.D. at UC Santa Cruz and UT Dallas. I have already talked with profs from the schools and they sound like they could push my application a bit with my not good GPA 3.4. And I have good recommendation letters. I didn't tell them my AW score though. I am also applying to a bunch of M.Ed. programs, thinking that if I am rejeted by Ph.D. this year I will just get a master that will lead me to a job. What are my chances with GPA 3.4 and AW 3.5? Getting desperate now!!!

thank you guys so much! I plan on getting a job, like in an NGO or education setting if I go for the M. Ed. And if I really like the job and everything I will apply for Ph.D. or Ed.D. after, like in my 40s or something. The one reason I wanted to try M.Ed. is that it's more career oriented than general psych Masters. My concerns is that I can write my P.S to make that two year of tutoring more "relevant" but it's still different from being a real teacher.......

Hey guys, I have a question again. I am thinking of applying to some Master's programs in Psychology as backups. And all that I can find in 'good' schools is educational psychology. I mean, if I were to pay over $30000 a year for a master's degree, I'd better do it in a high ranking school. I am just wondering if anyone have experience or knowledge of an M.Ed. Is working experience really important in applying? I have tutored for two years and that's it. My GPA and GRE seems average for UW Madison but they don't specify experience on their stats page. Thanks!!!

LOL about the math part...I do want to compain about it...the new quant part is more like a gifted-children math competition than a real "math" test...the 10th digit of 2007^2007? I am quite glad that I had a little such training when I was a kid, thanks to my dad.

Hey guys! I am really grateful for the advices on phone interview, and I am ready to start applying! Now I have another concern, namely my GRE scores. I took the old GRE in 2010 and got V720 Q750 AW3.0. The AW score is really a bummer so I decide to take the test again this year. And so I did this past Wednesday and I got V156 Q165 AW pending. This time the verbal part becomes the bummer, though I have time to take the test again, I feel unlikely to do any better in the verbal section. I know over 80% of the vocab during the test but I just DID NOT understand the logic of the sentences and passages!! Now is my question. Should I send in my 2010 score, explaining that I can in fact write but simply cannot adjust to ETS style? Or should I send the latest score, given I did better in AW and explain that I did not understand the logic? I am taking the GRE again in Oct 3rd, but I just do not think I will do better. Thanks!!!!

I was wondering if I should email him and ask just to confirm if he is really getting me a campus visit invitation. but i know that is a stupid question to ask. it's only because december is so far away and so many things can happen in between that i am not sure what to do. but thanks again, I will keep my hope high for an invitation and prepare for it!!

hey guys, I just talked with a potential supervisor on the phone. it was real quick, like 10 minutes or less. and he basically talked the whole time about his ongoing projects and how competitive it is to get in and how my experience is "neat". he did say that he would like to talk to me in person and mentioned the campus visit in late december. he was kind of like,"send me your name and everything and remind me who you are after applying, and i will @#$% a campus visit invitation after december." i cant really understand his blur at that very important word and i was afraid to ask again to confirm... what shall i do now?? i already sent him a "thank you" email and i got no reply. so nervous, i am thinking that i said too little or said sth wrong! Help!!!!!
