  1. It will absolutely take away from your ability to engage. You can do it, but if the options are working + no loans versus not working + loans, you have a difficult decision ahead. I worked two jobs in undergrad and it affected my GPA. When I quit one of them in my last quarter and overloaded on classes in my desired field I finished with a 3.9.
  2. Did you get accepted anywhere you wanted to go, Bionica?
  3. Chances are slim, but...who's moving to Norfolk this fall? I'm joining the Industrial-Organizational Psychology PhD program under Dr. Cigularov. Would love to have a roommate!
  4. Did anyone ever hear an official rejection from Bowling Green State? I've already accepted an offer but I did so without ever hearing back from BGSU.
  5. Yup, re: USF I got my rejection from them which makes my life WAY easier. So I thanked Dr. Spector when he told me. They were very nice the whole time, choosing between them and ODU would've been very difficult.
  6. Yes, I contacted all the departments about two weeks ago and they said they hadn't made a decision yet. I'm already accepted into Old Dominion and am 99% sure I'm going to go there, but I want to give it a couple more days to make sure nothing deal-breaking comes up in my research. I'm having a surgery on the 9th so I want to decide before then. Don't wanna make a life-changing decision while hopped up on painkillers
  7. Nope... UGA and BGSU have been completely silent, which is ridiculous given that it's April 2nd. I will be making my decision without considering their input, most likely.
  8. Hi Ghollo, I have an Auburn acceptance and just had a really good interview with Old Dominion. I should be finding out this week, but right now I think I'm preferring ODU to Auburn, so don't give up hope. USF is the only one I'm still waiting on, but realistically I don't think I'm going to come off the waitlist. I had some correspondence with Dr. Spector and Dr. Coovert there, but Dr. Allen is the best fit for me at USF and she is (was?) the president of SIOP so something tells me she's not going to take a student with a 3.4 GPA no matter how good my GRE scores are... I think if I get accepted to ODU and the funding is as good as my interviewer suggested, I'm going to attend there instead of Auburn. Could make a decision as soon as the end of next week.
  9. Thank you for the info! That's very helpful. I'll keep my hopes up.
  10. I totally understand the urgency, but I haven't heard ANYTHING from three schools yet and I can't make such an extremely significant decision on just 50% of the information. I'm 90% certain I know where I want to go, but if some new information comes about from an interview or the amount of funding for an acceptance or something of the like, I can't feel comfortable with making such a significant decision based on incomplete information. I'm sort of in between in that I'm both in the accepted group and the "waiting to hear back group," and I know that the week of April 15th is going to be a crazy week, but I honestly don't blame anyone who's still waiting to hear all of their schools in order to make an informed decision. For myself, the only way I see myself accepting an offer other than Auburn is if I end up getting accepted off of USF's waitlist. It's extremely unlikely, and their waitlist e-mail told me they would notify between April 1 and 15, so unfortunately I'm holding onto the Auburn acceptance until that point. That said, I just e-mailed USF to ask what the likelihood of me coming off the wait list/what order in line I'm in. Hopefully they can give me a realistic estimate and I'll know what to expect, Lastly, is there a reason April 15th is the deadline? Given how much some of these schools are dragging their feet, I can't imagine that they won't accept anyone after 4/15 unless there's a financial reason for it. If it's so haphazard, some of them are bound to end up with fewer new students than they had initially expected.
  11. Svyantek. I put him and Clark as equal POIs. They currently only have 2 professors since Clark left for Georgia. Fan is taking over as chair next year, and they're hiring someone to replace Clark.
  12. Alriiight.. Joining this thread a little late, but here's my status. Auburn - Accepted, currently at top of my list University of Maryland - Rejected University of South Florida - Waitlisted Old Dominion University - Interview offered Bowling Green State - Pending Purdue - Pending U of Georgia - Pending, graduate coordinator said they still have not made a decision. GRE V 160 Q 157 AW 5.5 GPA 3.45 (I had to work two jobs okay!?) Since I'm on the waitlist at USF and not the short list, can I most likely assume that nobody's going to decline an offer from USF? Can someone also tell me whether rankings/school pedigree really matter in the I/O field? It seems so divided up by interest that there's no easily quantifiable measure to rank schools by.
  13. Be careful. Not to be overly negative but you also don't want to implant some of your valuable ideas into someone else's head. You could instead describe the nature of the work you're doing, techniques you're using, etc. without going too much into what it's all about.
  14. Hi, welcome. I'm new to this place as well (kinda, been lurking for a while) and I'm applying to PhD programs in I/O. Based on your scores, yes I think quant is a little low, but it's my understanding that master's programs are less selective, since it's less time and you're paying for it. I wouldn't take my word as law, but your scores are borderline towards the bottom for PhD averages that I've seen, so you should be fine in Master's applications. 8-10 might be overkill, since it seems like you have a pretty good head on your shoulders. That's just my two cents, but like I said I'm kinda new at this.
