I was actually surprised to receive any financial aid. Mostly because I'm married and my wife and I work full time. I still have some GI Bill left to help pay for school, but with this scholarship that really brings the cost way down. I was expecting a lot of debt, but the aid I have combined really dropped it. It’s like, on the one hand, I feel bad complaining because I know you and others waited longer, but on the other, it’s still extremely off-putting because they just keep telling people to ask for extensions instead of owning up to the fact that something clearly went awry this year. I remember reading earlier on this thread or the other Columbia thread that a couple of faculty members who normally review applications quit, but of course, we have no way of knowing whether that’s true or not. I just know that last year my friend got a response within two weeks. Idk. That might have been an anomaly but in general the way they’re treating people just doesn’t sit right with me.
