  1. Question for anyone else who got waitlisted and didn’t accept: did you receive a “change in admission status” email today? I got a denial letter, but I also never told them I was accepting the waitlist so is that just a formality? I’m so confused.
  2. Ahhh I creeped on the right day! Congratulations!!!!
  3. That’s true. Although I would hope I didn’t come off as pushy. I asked generally at the end of February (when they told us we would know) when we should know and they said beginning of March. Beginning of March I had to let them know I had a deadline, especially since they had started admitting regular decision people and I was priority. I was polite both times but received curt responses. Luckily I had other options and decided it wasn’t a game I wanted to play with them. Unfortunately, I see this isn’t the only department playing games with people regarding admission decisions so I don’t feel as bad now.
  4. I think it does. I told them I was not allowed to receive anymore extensions from another school and that I needed to respond to them by March 15. The response I got was simply “you’ll receive an answer within the next 10 days.” They then waited until March 15 at 5pm to let me know I was waitlisted. I was hesitant to ask because I felt that something like that would happen and I believe I may have possibly been accepted had I not said anything, but it was true. Other schools were getting frustrated with me and I needed to know an answer. I understand the fixation because I keep wondering if I would have been outright accepted had I not said anything, but at the same time I can sense this was due to me giving them a deadline and it’s weird that they would be petty for something like that. Especially since they had my completed application since November 11.
  5. Yeah, that’s why I didn’t accept the waitlist. I think if they would’ve been more open from the start it wouldn’t have been so bad but they’ve been telling people “the next two weeks” since January knowing it wasn’t like that. I don’t even know if all the priority people have heard back yet. I hope they have.
  6. Yeah. And tbh I don’t even think they completely reviewed my application. I think they waited until the deadline I gave them and then were like “well let’s see if she accepts the waitlist and we’ll review it later.” Something is very off this year.
  7. Is anyone attending Penn in the fall? I know there’s a Facebook group but I wanted to see if there were people on here going lol
  8. I came back to creep and see they’re still doing you guys dirty. Smh eternally.
  9. I'm thoroughly confused as well. But I'm going to keep lurking until I figure it out?
  10. I've seen a spectrum of stats so it's really throwing me off on how they've been choosing. And then are they grouping by program specificities or just general groups?
  11. I'm still here lurking. I'm trying to keep updated so I can piece together this admissions process. This is a mystery I intend to solve?
  12. Thank you!! I'm really excited and it's such a relief to finally move forward past the application/waiting stage. I wish you the best as well!
  13. Thank you!! And I know you'll do amazing wherever you end up as well! Hopefully Columbia will throw an acceptance your way!
  14. Well everyone, after a good night's rest I have decided not to accept the waitlist offer and I just sent in my deposit to Penn! I just felt my application process was not positive enough to accept an "eh, you'll fit you in if we can" offer and I feel really good about my decision. Plus Penn was just about tied with Columbia in my book if I'm being honest. I'm still going to check in with this forum to see your updates because I'm really invested in everyone's outcomes. We've sort of become a family on here through this torture?
  15. Wouldn't that be amazing haha. I would love to tell them "uh actually"?
  16. I'm also keeping all my fellow priority applicants in mind and hope you all get in!! It's crazy we've had to wait until almost April.
  17. Yeah this process has been the most confusing! I also forgot to add I picked the children, youth, and families practice so maybe that played into it as well? Idk at this point.
  18. Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement! It's like I feel I can move forward but at the same time I feel like I'm still at square one; still in limbo! I think they just threw that at me because I gave them a date and they just needed to get something to me. It can't be a coincidence that they gave me something today. But anyway, thanks for letting me vent on here the past few weeks! It's been very therapeutic to talk with people going through the same thing! I'm still debating if I'm going to join the waitlist but I'm definitely going to commit to penn.
  19. I might accept the waitlist just to see what they say but I think I'm going to send in my deposit to Penn. You never know, I might change my mind later if I get accepted?
  20. It's probably for the best. Columbia was my dream but if I'm being honest, I got very good vibes from UPenn. My gut is telling me that's the place to be and I think I'm going to follow it.
  21. I received the email that my status had changed. I applied November 11, so that's why I have mixed feelings because they started waitlisting a couple weeks ago but people who applied after the priority deadline were admitted. It is what it is at this point.
  22. Sure! My overall undergrad gpa was 3.58, major around 3.8ish I believe. I was a human services major with minors in psychology and disability studies. I was in 2 honor societies and won an award for a paper I wrote on child care subsidies. I don't have as much work experience but I was an undergrad TA, interned for early head start, and have worked at a child care center as a part time teacher for 2 years and now as a full time administrator since I graduated last spring. I forgot to add I applied for the 2 year residential track, policy concentration
  23. Well everyone, I waited 84 years to find out I was waitlisted. I have mixed feelings about this.
