This is starting to feel like a sorority initiation. Our task is seeing who can wait the longest?

Sooooo nothing today. Although I probably won't hear from them until the 15th because that's the day I told them.

They seem to be emailing people that their status has changed between 5-6pm est. So I guess like everywhere else once you go on there you'll get your letter of acceptance (or rejection).

Penn gave me until April 2. Hopefully I'll hear back from Columbia by then!

Yes, although knowing them it could really be 10 months?

Yeah. Thankfully I got an extension from Penn and NYU actually gave me until the 20th so hopefully they make good on their promise and I hear back this week??

Well then by that timeline I should've heard back in January...?

Yeah, they should send some stuff out. Especially since it usually goes out between 5-6pm

They seem to send out the acceptances in the 5pm est hour so I'll check back around 6pm to see if anyone has heard anything. If not then it'll be a looooooong weekend.

That's how I feel!! We will definitely be the tightest group ever?

It's like I know I'm still going to go if I get accepted, but I've been needing to vent with people in the same situation about how dirty they're doing us (I don't even know if it's intentional or not at this point). I would be going crazy if I didn't have this forum!

That's true lol. This forum has been very therapeutic for me because no one in my everyday life can understand this particular struggle?

Although you would think if it was a rejection they would've just sent it after I told them I had a March 15 deadline at another school. I honestly don't know what to expect at this point. The crazy thing is I wasn't expecting to hear back until March because that's what they had online but then they started telling people they would hear mid-January/early February and that's what's got me so anxious!

I wouldn't even be upset if I was rejected at this point. I would be more upset that they made me wait for forever just to tell me that. I just want to know!

I honestly think they're sitting on the rejections. There's no way they haven't gotten to my application yet when people who applied after me have heard. And I seem to be the earliest to apply that I've seen on here (November 11). I would rather they just send it so I can start making other arrangements.

I find it weird that we haven't seen any rejections either. I mean it's pretty anonymous; we know everyone through screen names but not who you are in real life. So even though it might be embarrassing, it would be very helpful in figuring out what's happening. Because I'm getting the feeling they've been sitting on rejections.

It might end up deterring future applicants. Which I guess would help those that do actually apply. They might even luck out and hear back in January if the applicants are down?

The only upside to this is we're all bonding through the pain of this admissions process. The class of 2020 will be the closest yet?

Exactly! I mean to just put everyone's applications into piles in no particular order just seems...weird. Why would they even admit to that?

I couldn't help but to peak and now I wish I hadn't lol. Why have a priority deadline when they weren't even going to review applications in the order they were received? That makes no sense.

For those of us still in for the long haul, it looks like we've all already gotten into some pretty amazing programs and like my mentor just told me, "while columbia would be the icing on the cake, you still have the cake." Whether we see each other at columbia or are spread out all across the country, I know we're all going to become amazing social workers and achieve many great things! Good luck to you all! I think I'll take a few days off from all this obsessing now?
