  1. I'm sorry to hear that, but their loss; wherever you end up going will be lucky to have you! And thankfully I do have other great schools to fall back on. I'm glad I didn't put all my faith in just one program.
  2. Me too! Maybe they will have a heart and put me out of my misery!
  3. I will most likely still attend if I was accepted. They have the most policy focused program of the schools I applied to so I would still like to go. It just puts me in a tough spot because if it's a rejection then I don't want to miss out on other really good schools. UPenn also gave me until the 15th. I can see if they can give me an extension since I haven't asked for one yet, but I'm still going to miss out on NYU and I haven't really picked between the two yet. They both have factors that combined create what makes Columbia so appealing to me.
  4. Yeah, if I don't hear back by Friday then I'll call on Monday. I would respond to the email but I don't think they'll actually give me any information because literally all she said was "you can expect to have your decision within the next 10 days."
  5. I mentioned that I received two extensions and was told I can't receive anymore and that's all she responded with. That sort of leads me to believe it's a rejection. If they were going to accept me, I feel they would hurry it along so as not to lose out on a potential student. My application can't possibly still be under review when there are people after the priority deadline who have already heard back.
  6. So they just responded and said the next 10 days. That puts me over the 15th if it hits the 10th day. My application can't possibly be taking that long.
  7. I told them I'm not allowed to get anymore extensions (which is true) so it's important that I get an answer. We'll see what they say.
  8. I emailed them yesterday and mentioned I have a deadline to let other schools know and they haven't responded yet. If I don't hear back by tomorrow then I'll call on Friday, but I'm afraid I'll say the wrong thing if I call.
  9. I submitted November 11 and I've been seeing people who applied right at the December 1 priority deadline and after the priority deadline hear back so I'm like either I was forgotten or it's bad news. Who knows at this point though.
  10. Me too! I just feel like I applied a little too early to be at the end of the pile so I can't help but feel like they only have bad news. But I'm still hopeful!
  11. Well maybe today will be the day then! My fingers are crossed!
  12. I doubt we'll hear anything today. With this nor'easter they're probably "closed." (Yes, the quotation marks are sarcasm?)
  13. Well, it's almost 7pm here on the east coast so it's safe to assume I won't be hearing back tonight. Hopefully I'll get some news tomorrow. And congrats to everyone who got accepted today!!
  14. I agree! I just think the pros outweigh the cons that I've heard. It lines up with everything I'm looking for so even though I hate this wait, I'm still hoping hard for an acceptance!
  15. Well I can't speak for anyone else but this doesn't deter my decision. If I get accepted, I'll be attending. I'm frustrated that it's taking this long, but at the end of the day the program's emphasis is exactly what I want, it's in the city I want to be in, and it will place me in front of the kinds of connections I want to make. I'm used to dealing with disorganization, but as long I get a placement (don't really care where) and my professors respond to emails in a timely manner then I'm fine. I never was one for a need for constant one on one attention.
  16. I'm pulling for everyone too. We deserve to get in after all this torture lol
  17. I just sent them an email and let them know of the deadline. I was actually supposed to let NYU know in January but asked for two extensions because I've been waiting on Columbia. I can understand why NYU is starting to get frustrated with me, it's sort of ridiculous. Especially if I ended up doing all this waiting for a denial.
  18. I have to know by the 15th. NYU told me I can't get anymore extensions?
  19. Can someone take one for the team and call and ask? I would but I feel like I would come off as pushy and I need to know what's going on?
  20. I'm doing the policy concentration. But even if they go by concentration, shouldn't it be concentration within priority applicants and then regular? Because seeing as they started admitting non-priority applicants I could've just waited to apply. It seems like it wasn't worth pressuring my LORs to get them in early.
  21. That's great! And I'm still hopeful about Columbia as well. They're my number 1 so I know I would still accept even with all these games they keep playing?
  22. Acceptances from all so I'm just waiting to hear back from columbia?. What about you?
  23. I live right outside of philly so I applied to UPenn (the really good school close to home), Temple (the safety school close to home), and nyu. Philly is also a great city for building those connections but there's just something about New York. I've always seen myself living there and I feel going to school there will help me make a better transition than just moving in general; especially in my field.
  24. Where I currently live doesn't have very much going on so in order to really advance (in any career honestly) people usually have to move out. I've been going up to New York often since I was a kid and sort of fell in love with it so I know that's where I eventually want to move to and I know going to school in the city will expose me to better connections than if I went somewhere outside of it. After all, in order to really establish yourself most of the time it's not where you go, it's who you meet along the way. I got into nyu as an undergrad but ended up deciding on a state school for the extra low cost so I'm not too worried on how much debt I'll be going into because I don't currently have any right now.
  25. I'm going to drive myself crazy trying to figure this out! I applied to the two year residential track on November 11 and people who applied to the 2 year residential track in February have already heard back so they can't possibly be going in order of applications received. I think I just need to let it go and focus on my other schools at this point.
