They've been on strike for weeks now but they just agreed to a deal today so admin workers should be in office soon.

Thanks for the info

Hey guys!

I'm so glad I found this thread. I applied to the Queen's MPA program, Ryerson's MPPA program, and UofT's MPP program for September 2018. I received an admissions offer for all three programs. So far I have rejected Queen's offer, as I wish to stay in Toronto.

I'm seriously having a hard time deciding between the two programs! I have spoken to a few students who have completed the program at UofT or are currently at UofT, and have heard mixed reviews. Does anybody know any information regarding the program at Ryerson? I haven't been able to contact anyone as of yet who has completed the program at Ryerson, or is currently at Ryerson. From my understanding the alumni is much smaller at Ryerson vs UofT. I believe Ryerson only accepts about 40 students!

I think what is throwing me off about UofT is the fact that it is a two year program, and is much more expensive! In addition, I have heard it is very Econ heavy, and I personally do not have an economics background at all, which is making me feel less confident.

Btw, if anyone wants to know my stats and educational background etc, feel free to ask :)

When did you hear back from Ryerson? I've heard good things about the program, but if you go on Linkedin there's an alumni group for the MPPA grads and you can definitely get some answers. I'm losing hope because Ryerson is my first choice and I still haven't heard back...

So, I applied on March 23rd (I know super late! But I saw they were still accepting applications...) and I just heard back on Monday April 2nd!

Thanks for the FYI on the alumni group. I'll check that out! Hope you hear some good news soon!!

Woah, you applied and got a response in less than a month!? That's awesome.

Did you apply for FT or PT, and what's your educational background and work history like?

Yes! I was shocked to be honest. Still puzzled as to which program to choose however  I haven't been able to get in touch with any Ryerson Alumni as of yet..

I applied for FT. I graduated from UofT back in 2014 with my Bachelor's of Science - Specialist in Psychology. I took about 3-4 years off to work. I worked shortly for a non-profit organization as a program coordinator, and then started working as a Career Services Coordinator at a Private Career College! Will be resigning end of August to focus on school full-time :)

My cGPA for my undergrad was 3.57.... and a 3.9 in the last two years. Hope that helps!

Wow, that is awesome. Congrats! What was your GPA and experience, if you don't mind me asking.

Thank you so much! I actually responded to a comment above with my GPA and work experience, I'm just copying and pasting it in response to your reply :)

Oh okay! My average for my last two years is really good. I'm finishing up my last semester, so the final grades will be released in May but it is 10 out of a 12 scale. My school doesn't do it by the 4.0 GPA scale so I'm not sure what it translates to, but it's definitely an A. I feel like my work experience is okay, not outstanding but it's not bad either. I'm getting super super anxious waiting.

Got accepted to MPPGA program today! If anyone has any information about scholarships they offer, please send it this way!

Congratulations patel69! I haven't heard from them yet. I'm very anxious. If you don't mind me asking, are you a domestic or international student?

To anyone wondering about Ryerson. I called them and they said the first round of offers went out March 10th and those students have till tonight (April 9th) to accept or decline. After this they will review again and will send acceptances/rejections, which can take up until mid-May.

Thanks! Do you know if this was for both full time and part time applicants?

Have any of the part-time people heard back as yet?

Anyone here apply to the UVIC MPA online program and heard back yet? My application is still under review. I’m curious how many people they accept to the online program vs. the on campus program? Really hoping I get in

I'm in the same boat. I know the first two rounds have gone out. The second round of offers went out last Monday, and applicants have 10 days to accept the offer (today). I think the third wave will likely go out tomorrow or Monday, and I would expect wait list and rejection notices to be sent out by the end of April... In short, if we haven't heard from UVic by Wednesday of next week, I think it's reasonable to prepare for a rejection letter.

EDIT: My bad. I misread your original post. My answer pertains to the on-campus program. I'm not sure what the deal is for the online program, although I have heard that online offers tend to go out a couple weeks after the on-campus offers.

I rejected my Ryerson offer, so I hope you hear something soon! :)

First time poster here - I am in the same boat. I only applied to UVic because I live in Victoria and would like to stay here. My on campus application is still under review so things aren't looking bright for me either.

What kind of experience do you have? My GPA isn't the best which might be hurting me. My last two years of my undergrad BA (Political Science) works out to about a 3.5 (B+ average) which is the minimum requirement.

I do have 2 years' of public sector experience though...
