palabra45 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 (edited) Hello everyone, surprisingly, there's no thread for Italian this year and I thought I create one. I applied for 4 PhD programs and still waiting for a reply. I had two interviews a few weeks ago but nothing since. Do you people want to share your experiences as well? Cheers, P. EDIT: Yes, I am freaking out and I have a bad feeling about this whole thing. Edited February 18, 2018 by SkunkStyle77
Carly Rae Jepsen Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 (edited) We had an Italian applicant in the French thread! I'll tag them here. @meliboeus Edited February 19, 2018 by Carly Rae Jepsen
palabra45 Posted February 19, 2018 Author Posted February 19, 2018 I saw the person in that thread too and I was hoping I could attract them here. We'll see, I'm getting impatient but I suppose I cannot get but rejections right now. Knowing from my fellows that they are also in the waiting-limbo would take some stress away.
meliboeus Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 hello fellow Italian applicant, how's it going? have you received good news so far?
palabra45 Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Big shot, I was accepted at my top choice, Brown, and I'll be flying to the US soon. I'm still waiting for the last reply, formally, but I'll probably decline. How is it going for you?
meliboeus Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 well, congratulations! so I guess you're into Dante and Renascence studies, right? I got a couple of rejections from the Ivies (bad fit), interviews and acceptances elsewhere but most importantly I received a great offer from Stanford, which will be my final destination. palabra45 Posted April 10, 2018 Author Posted April 10, 2018 In my Master's I worked mainly on the Renaissance and the 18th Century but, funnily enough, in the past months I've been focusing mainly on post-unification literature, combined with super-duper-highly-today-hated theories. That's the fit with Brown. What's your focus?

Have you studied in Italy (I'm from Milan btw) or elsewhere? I'm doing mostly modernism ( mid 19th - early 20th century things) with an avant-garde/experimental/WWI twist, but in the past I worked as well on older stuff (including Latin poetry).
