Brown vs. UMass Computer Science

I’m deciding between the new Brown Masters in Data Science program and the UMass Amherst Masters in computer science (within which you can concentrate in data science).

I’m inclined to UMass because it’s a more flexible program (I may still decide I want to pursue a PhD), and I really like the town of Amherst. But my Undergrad advisor says Brown has a better reputation and I should reconsider. Looking for opinions/recommendations, thanks.

What isn’t flexible enough about the data science program at Brown?

The Brown Masters in data science is a specific sequence of courses, which is different than their Masters in computer science. The UMass program is a Masters in computer science with possible concentrations in data science or cybersecurity, with a professional or research focus.

@iqueequeg Cool, I applied to the same program but haven't heard anything from them yet. Did you apply in January or something? I think decisions came out for some people on the 14th which is before the deadline to apply lol.
