  1. @muskratsam I wanted to attend but I already signed up for the march against the first amendment
  2. Wait, if the cornell program is MPS, I didn't think they released the results yet? I thought Ivy day is supposed to be on the 28th.
  3. It's Thursday. I haven't heard back from a single school yet. My prediction might have been wrong lol.
  4. @iqueequeg Cool, I applied to the same program but haven't heard anything from them yet. Did you apply in January or something? I think decisions came out for some people on the 14th which is before the deadline to apply lol.
  5. Not dealing that well lol. I check applyweb and the results page embarrassingly often
  6. I'm curious about you guys who applied mainly to california schools - are you intending to find a career in your field and stay in the state?
  7. Do you see yourself landing a job that would return better on the difference in cost between the two schools? If yes, go to UMD, else go to the other school.
  8. @minsifye I think at least a 160 in the quantitative section to be competitive. You're applying to mostly canadian schools though, so I'm not sure how much they value the GRE. Here in the US, they usually have thresholds that you have to be above to even be considered. Then you're compared to other students where the GRE is used as one variable among many.
  9. You can buy an iphone SE for like $100 from walmart or bestbuy nowadays.
  10. I have a feeling we're going to get some spicy decisions this week. I'm stocking up on alcohol as we speak
  11. Did anyone here apply to the MPS program in Statistics at Cornell? Last year, results came out on the 16th of March, has anyone heard back from them?
  12. Early February. How about you? Also did you have an interview?
  13. Last year, everyone who posted data science results did so withing a two day span, so how sure are we that the admissions process for this program is rolling? Or do y'all think that anyone who hasn't heard back yet is rejected/wait-listed?
  14. Hey, someone started an accepted students thread for the program over in the meet and greet section!
  15. Hey those are pretty good credentials! I think the quant part of the GRE is more important anyways for this program. Plus econ is largely applied math anyways, and I think admissions committees are always looking for ways to add to the diversity of their class so having people from different undergraduate areas of study is probably a good thing. I studied electrical engineering as an undergrad so I have some pre-reqs covered already but I went to work for a year between college and this application, so who knows how they'll perceive that. Anyways, I'm rooting for us.
  16. Wow, I like the schools on your list. Northwestern is a pipe dream for me, considering I had a low undergraduate GPA, but I wrote a really detailed description of my research interests so I'm hoping they see through the numbers. And yeah I'm pretty nervous too, but I have a safety, Syracuse, to fall back on which I'm happy about. The great thing about Brown's program is all the new funding they got for research so I feel like networking and finding opportunities to work while studying will be plentiful. Hahaha imagine getting into all your top choices and having to choose. I guess there are worse problems
  17. Really? What makes you skeptical? Brown is definitely my top choice, even though on paper, some of the other schools I am waiting on are better. Where else are you applying? I'm still waiting on Penn, Cornell, and Northwestern. I believe the class size for the Data science intiative is fairly small, on the order of around 40 people. Plus we're competing with sub-matriculating undergraduates at Brown.
  18. I didn't (which im kinda worried about), but if you search in the results database for "brown data science" you can see two acceptances for fall 2018 that came out today. Do we know for sure that admissions for this program are rolling, or do you think all the acceptances have been sent out, and those of us still waiting have been rejected?
  19. Brown's data science results have started rolling in. Has anyone heard from them yet?
  20. The OP of this thread created this for master's applicants in general. Might want to up your reading comprehension if you're going into speech pathology LOL
