Letter of Intent - Mentioning you're a 2nd time applicant

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! This is my second year applying to the SLP program. Do you think it is advantageous to mention that it is my second time applying (it might show that I am a committed student that is passionate for SLP)?

If I do mention it, how should I phase it to show that applying to the program a second time is advantageous/a good asset to my application?

Thanks in advance!!

I am also a second time applicant, and I was going to mention it was my second time applying. I think it shows that you are very committed and determined on being an SLP. For me I am going to highlight my improvememts since last application cycle. For example, last time I applied I didn’t have any experience in the field except for my undergrad degree. This time around I got my license as an SLP-A and landed a job at a Early Intervention clinic working with a variety of different clients which allowed me to get loads of experience.

If you are going to mention that you are a second time applicant, if I were you I would highlight any improvements you’ve made on your application since last time.

Good luck!

Personally I applied 3 different times and never mentioned that it was multiple times. I personally never thought about mentioning that fact in my letter of intent. Instead I just tried to make my application stronger in other ways like experience, letters of recommendations and the programs I was applying to.
