I have a hard time with math even worse when its a bunch of tricks -_-. I do have a 3.9 gpa good refrences and a perfect personal statment that i had several profesor read and i have alot of volunteer stuff i did during undergrad. What do u think guys?
smileyslp Posted November 9, 2018 Posted November 9, 2018 I think that the focus for most places is on your verbal and writing scores. Your verbal score is at a good percentile, your GPA is high, and you have references and a great personal statement, so I wouldn't worry too much depending on where you're applying (especially if you have related volunteer work too). I would recommend double checking your school choices to make sure that they don't specify a certain percentile requirement. Some of the schools I'm applying to require that every score is at or above the 40th percentile, while some other ones only offer a class profile from a previous year. You could apply to some schools that do not require the GRE too just to be on the safe side. Also, one of my admissions counselors recommended writing a note (if the process offers it) to explain the score and say why you're still a great applicant.
Punkymonkey101 Posted November 9, 2018 Author Posted November 9, 2018 Thanks for giving me hope!!!! May i ask what schools your applying to? I live in ny and i find that it will be hard to relocate. I dont even know how to drive lol. Most towns out of ny require a car. So i will be applying to every school thats in nyc area.
Rezzy S. Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 I know schools are pretty willing to look past lower quant scores because often (though not the rule!) non-math types are drawn to this field.
AlwaysaFalcon Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 You could always try and apply to programs that don't require the gre scores as part of the admissions process. I know my program didn't require GRE scores when I apply. Or like @smileyslpsaid explain to programs that you are applying to why you are a great applicant regardless of the GRE score.
Kandykane Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 @AlwaysaFalcon what programs did you apply 2 if I may ask. Also which schools did not require the gre?
ChaiTeaSLP Posted December 3, 2018 Posted December 3, 2018 Both CSUN and Tennessee State accept the MAT. I used that instead of the GRE.

The schools I applied to are under my signature and one of the programs I received an acceptance from, Governors State University didn't require a gre when I applied.
