kateem Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) Blarg...So, if I get this right...my next chance to hear is tonight at midnight? Any idea if they update over the weekend? And anyone else in PhD general biological sciences still waiting? Edited April 16, 2010 by kateem
UGStudent Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 I know a few people who have received rejections. People who receive rejections don't generally advertise it on the internet... it seems as though they're just updating the website as they input the results. Nothing fishy. Just slow. Good to hear (unfortunate for them though) that there are rejections out there. On the NSERC board there were a few of us who posted that we had been rejected (self included) so I thought we'd see at least one or two if they were out there. No idea if they update over night or on the weekend. If you read above we have heard sort of conflicting information on what is going on. If they are updating through the day we aren't seeing people comment on that here.
UGStudent Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Doubt we'll hear anything until Monday at the earliest. euges116 1

Uh... those are knowledge-based exams, and scores can be easily quantified just by tallying up the total. This is a scholarship application, and (unfortunately) much more subjective. There aren't any "points" here, and over a certain number of points you get the scholarship. If you have to ask such a question, that's very troubling. gezzloume and euges116 1 1

As they have had several months to make the decisions. Entering them all by the day they say they will (the 14th or 16th depending on where you look) should not be that hard, if you have the right personnel and system. Edited April 18, 2010 by UGStudent

See, my school (Toronto) says otherwise. My department says that they haven't heard anything, and that the only thing they've heard is that OGS (and SSHRC) haven't made up their minds yet, and won't let the departments know until May. Why does everyone I talk to have a different response? Argh... this is highly confusing. A lack of co-ordination on OGS and SSHRC's part is really frustrating and unacceptable! gezzloume and euges116 2
ajesusj Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 SSHRC is usually end of April. For OGS, people reported that their status was updated on the 18th last year. So it could be any day now (but most probably a weekday). tarski and euges116 1 1

OGS must have made up their minds at least in part as so many people have had status updates. No idea about SSHRC though.

Students always hear about OGS before departments do since they update to a website. With SSHRC it's generally the other way around as departments hear first, then a letter is sent out to applicants. I actually don't think that there's a lack of co-ordination, there's just a lot of people within school departments/offices of grad studies who have no idea what is going on and take wild guesses which students take to be fact. ashleyv Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Can people post on here if they hear anything about their rank on the reversion list?
if-you-can-pick-up-a-fork Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 hey, i've been lurking on this forum. i spoke to a gpd at my university and he told me that ogs fucked up their entry of results. they began to enter them, but they were doing it incorrectly. so now it's going to take some time to properly enter the rest of the results. hopefully we'll hear something soon. best of luck to everyone. m.

So... what does that mean for those of us who have been told on the website that we were successful? Might the results change? (Seriously, it would make things a lot easier for everyone if OGS would just post a message for people to see when they logged in that said "If you do not have your results, they have been delayed for this reason. Please check back on April whatever." Is that so hard to do?) gezzloume 1

I doubt they would post incorrect results and not notify as soon as they were aware a mistake has been made. I suspect they planned to release all results at one time, and instead started releasing them as they were inputted, thus some people got results while the rest of us didn't. I think this is why we haven't found out yet, they are waiting until all the results are in the system to release them. This is also why it will take until the end of the month. This is of course just speculation.
dominator3 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 It looks like OGS would be known next month only .
euges116 Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 It looks like OGS would be known next month only . Wrong. Some people have already found out.
UGStudent Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Wrong. Some people have already found out. Through what was likely a mistake.. the rest of us will have to wait until next month most likely. euges116 1
dominator3 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 The confusing aspect is- whether the Univ./Dept. comes to know the results first or the students (i.e online)? euges116 1
Phalène Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Through what was likely a mistake.. the rest of us will have to wait until next month most likely. Just so you know, my results are still accessible on the OGS site. It appears as though the results that have been posted will remain posted. Good luck to those of you still waiting! tarski Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 (I myself am waiting on SSHRC, which might not come out until May! Ugh) I'm really waiting on the SSHRC, too! As nice as getting an award is, an OGS seems to only have a slight affect. First years normally get 20,000, and according to an email I got from my department, getting an OGS results in the OGS 15k, top ups, paying tuition, which leaves you with... $20,876. Although I think the description going along with the $20,876 invovled less teaching than the standard $20,000, so maybe that's the real benefit. The SSHRC would make a much bigger difference. For anyone who wants to share, how does your department treat the OGS, and what's the final result like? euges116 1

Um, have you been living in a hole lately? Seriously, look at this board, and you'll read that a LOT of people do NOT know of their results yet. Some people got their results on April 14 at midnight, but nothing since. OGS has only posted some results, and whether these posts/results are department-, school-, or region-specific, that remains to be seen. Edited April 20, 2010 by euges720 dominator3 and euges116 1 1

IS it not strange that OGS guys have stopped uploading the results after first day? Many believe they are gradually loading up but we do see any posts confirming this. euges116 and dominator3 1 1
