izzooo Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 I've read through a lot of threads here but I haven't really found anyone that seemed like me that got in somewhere. I'm really really terrified I just wasted 4 years of my life in undergrad pursuing a degree that I can't do anything with. My GPA after this semester will probably be in the 3.19-3.25 or higher range. I think 3.33 is as high as I can get. Taking the GRE in a month. My practice test scores are rough right now (145 range for both) but I think I can get those up easily in a month. I do research with a PhD student at a school studying children with learning disabilities and reading comprehension intervention. I teach a college level course for freshman students who are Speech & Hearing majors about academic success. But I don't have any clinical hours/experience/observation technically. Does that matter? I have have a second concurrent degree in Family & Human Development. I have hardcore anxiety about asking for LORs because I don't have a close bond with any professors. HELP anything is appreciated or link me to another forum where I can get more info. Sorry this is long and very "me" focussed but just haven't had anyone reliable to ask.
slptobe! Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 If I were you, I would keep studying for your gre and then try to gain more experience volunteering somewhere so you have more to write about in your personal statement/talk about in interviews. You can use your second degree to help find opportunities I would think because you have a lot of knowledge! Let me know if I can help in any way, you can do this!
Avschilling Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Get the GRE scores to 150 or higher in both and you'll be fine! Use ASHA edfind to apply to schools that accept a wide range of GPA's!
AlwaysaFalcon Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 You ranges for gpa and gre are almost identical to mine! Feel free to message me but like others have said I think that you need to work your strengths. Talk about that research experience in your letter of intent and experience. There is more to a future clinician than grades sleepyslp2be 1
