Has anyone heard back from the new MSc Psychotherapy program at McMaster?

I applied at the end of feb and haven't heard back yet. I emailed them about it and they said they hope to get back to their applicants soon. I imagine their admissions process is being impacted by the pandemic like everyone else, but I guess I'm just having trouble dealing with the uncertainty.

Has anyone who applied to MSc psychotherapy heard anything back yet?

I think we spoke on Reddit, if not then I'll share again just in case. But I was a part of their second round of interviews last week, and they are working through those now. I haven't heard back yet, but it's only been a few days so it's a bit premature for me to get anxious.

I got an email this morning informing me I was not admitted. I am super surprised because the interview went well and I exceeded their admission requirements...but it seems to fit with the way the rest of my admissions have gone this year.

That's really unexpected since your qualifications are more than enough for the program (per our reddit convo)! Also I heard on reddit that they are only admitting 15-20 people this year? Since it was rolling admissions maybe some people just got lucky bc they applied earlier? Anyways thank you for the info and I really hope you get into a good program either this year or next!! If it makes you feel better I haven't even gotten an email from them and I didn't have an interview so I assume I'm rejected too which makes me feel disappointed but not surprised since I have a severe lack of relevant experience.

That's what I was thinking! Even though they did two rounds of interviews, maybe they kept it as one big pool of applicants? So, people who were interviewed first may have had a better chance due to timing, especially if they accepted a bunch after the first round. Thank you!! Yeah I'm weighing my options on what to do going forward. That sucks they haven't informed you of anything, one of my other applications is like that; after waiting awhile and reaching out, they confirmed they have already accepted people but even now I'm still not officially rejected.

Update: I got an email last week saying that I was waitlisted for an interview and will hear back with a firm decision by June 29th. Looks like i'm not getting in this year. Disappointed, but motivated to keep trying!

I'm sorry to hear that! That seems quite odd. I understand it's rolling admissions this year, but to wait until the end of June to tell you whether or not you get an interview seems so late, especially because I'm assuming the interview would then take place in July...It's not fair to you to have to wait so long, and have your life seemingly put on hold until then. Although that's how I personally feel about it, you may think differently!

Hi everyone. I know this is an old thread, but I'm hoping that maybe some of you are still active on here! For those of you who went through the interview process, would you be willing to send me a PM? I just recently received an interview invite and I am hoping for some advice from someone who has already gone through the process. This is my third application round so I need all hands on deck. Thanks in advance! ☺️

Hey! Congratulations! If you don't mind sharing, what is your GPA and experience?

Hello everyone! :) This is my first time posting on GradCafe, but I look forward to any tips/advice from anyone in the program or who has had an interview in the past. I know this is a pretty new program still, so I'm wondering if there are any similar resources (perhaps from similar programs) that others have have found helpful. any advice is much appreciated!

Hey! I'm not too sure to be honest. I think the generic questions went fairly well because I prepared quite a bit for them, but I don't feel like I elaborated enough for the ethical dilemmas... So I have a bit of mixed feelings of how it went. Keeping my fingers crossed though that I actually did better than I think I did!

How did it go for you??

Hi everyone! I applied to this program back in December and still haven't heard anything back! I'm starting to feel worried.. but @xChiliPepps do you mind telling me about the interview experience? What kind of questions do they ask etc?

I applied in November and my application still says "incomplete". Anyone else have this problem??

this happened to me!! i had to reach out to them and I had submitted my application however the system had an error or something luckily i was able to have someone in IT fix it because they had no evidence that i had applied even though i had and my references had submitted and everything prior to the cut off! Hope you were able to sort it out!

Unfortunately, it still says "incomplete" despite having reached out to a few faculty, and IT. So frustrating!!
