1 very strong (have done research with him for 4 years), 1 strong from older professor known in the field (that I TAed for), 1 medium strong from professor I took 2 classes from
Research Experience:

Almost 4 years with the same professor during school year

2 REUs over summer at undergraduate school

No publications, 2 posters, 1 presentation at award symposium

Awards/Honors/Recognitions:

Won award at national symposium

None

Pertinent Activities or Jobs:

2 industry internships at well known company in S&P 500 in ChemE related applications

Ran mentoring/outreach program for SWE chapter at university

Volunteered at STEM outreach program run by professor that wrote req letter

Other Miscellaneous Accomplishments:

Anything else in your application that might matter (faculty connections, etc.):

PI at undergraduate graduated from berkeley <5 years ago

Research Interests:

Computational (anything really, but my personal statement focused on genomics and materials work that I worked on during undergrad)

Institutions/Programs: MIT, Berkeley, Stanford, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, Columbia

My list is ambitious, but I decided that if I couldn't get in, I would just take the job offer I got.

Comments:

I made outreach a major component of my personal statement; I think that demographics of engineering are probably working in my favor

MIT seems like historically they send out acceptances in mid January around 15th January all the way to the beginning of February, with most acceptances falling between 15 Jan to 20 Jan, so it might be possible that no results are out yet. I am also wondering if MIT interviews everyone that they accept or if they only interview a subset. Can anyone lend any insight into MIT interviews?

I am a UT Austin undergrad and they just sent me this "We will discuss your application to the PhD program in chemical engineering at UT with you in March. In the meantime, we want to encourage you to continue to diversify your career opportunities beyond UT as we want you to have a wide variety of choices for your next steps as you approach graduation. Please keep us posted of any other schools that you get admitted to and let us know if your interest in our program changes at any point throughout this process."

I took it as a positive thing but they really don't like people staying. I'll try to make my case cause I really like the program

I got an email from a PI at UT Austin a few days before Christmas and then a phone call the next day from the department head with an acceptance, but I did not receive the official acceptance letter/portal update until a few days ago (1/14 to be exact).

anybody hear from Columbia? Is it safe to assume that I did not get in if I get emails about their masters program LOLOLOL

So I got in early last week but I actually received an email about their Master’s Program too the day before I received my acceptance so I wouldn’t worry/ I think it’s just automated or something!

Has anyone heard from NYU's PhD program yet?

I had a POI email me for an interview on Tuesday for NYU so I don't think they've made admissions decisions quite yet but sounds like they're interviewing candidates now?
