  1. I recommend reaching out to the faculty members you interviewed with/were interested in rotating with - mentioning your interest in Penn! If they've already made offers/don't respond, it probably also doesn't hurt to reach out to other faculty members you didn't get a chance to speak with! I just turned down my offer and most of the refusals are coming in now as well imo, but faculty can still fill out the form for interest in students so just make sure to remind them!
  2. The second weekend was just last week so my guess is that most offers are coming out soon?
  3. I attended last week and I thought it went really well! It was definitely one of the more organized and informative events I've been to and the department and students seem really friendly/inclusive/supportive + the faculty interviews were all fairly laid back. I've heard the post-interview acceptance rate is >90%, but of course who knows if anything has changed.
  4. For Columbia ChemE and JHU ChemBE, I was accepted for both back in January, but have seen some people get acceptance notifications in February so far so it’s not over! For GT, the interview/visit weekend (depends on home dept whether it’s a visit or interview) is next week.
  5. I'm thinking it's a mistake ?, especially after having attended the interview weekend last week, can't see what the need is for this session
  6. Hi! I’ve had a couple now and can say that typically, it’ll depend on the program, but all the ones I’ve been to have built in specific time to talk to graduate students and socialize! All of mine have been on the Gather.town platform which is kinda cool (although every time you have a crowd that’s confused at what is going on, which is very fair since the platform is very new). Overall, it does feel a bit too curated and sometimes feels like you’re not really getting a great feel for the place because you’re not physically there, but this can be easily be offset by just asking as many questions as possible (literally any that pop into your head, as long as they’re appropriate of course)
  7. Interview weekend is 2/26-2/28, I think all invites were sent out late December
  8. Hi! I think right now they're doing preliminary interviews! I had one this week and from what it sounds like, after the preliminary interview, they'll be sending official invites for the recruitment weekend (the PI I spoke too sounded like they thought I'd been invited to the official weekend already). These preliminary interviews seemed to be scheduled by the PI alone so if you haven't gotten a prelim interview yet, it's not like a definite no (my PI interviewer gave me like 24 hours notice before they wanted to meet)
  9. I had a POI email me for an interview on Tuesday for NYU so I don't think they've made admissions decisions quite yet but sounds like they're interviewing candidates now?
  10. So I got in early last week but I actually received an email about their Master’s Program too the day before I received my acceptance so I wouldn’t worry/ I think it’s just automated or something!
  11. I got in yesterday, but I saw people get in a couple days before me as well
  12. Just wanted to let you know there is also a Chemical Engineering Fall 2021 Admission Results thread in case you're looking for people who may know more about those particular programs (not that you're not welcome here! Good luck + it's still pretty early! )
  13. Department! (email came from professor, non-POI, in department inviting to interview weekend with detailed info soon to follow from dept. admin)
  14. Sure, will try to share a little but not a ton for privacy reasons: BioE/BME major at a top R1 institution (think HYPSM), with a 3.95/4.00 GPA. ~4+ years of research experience (no internships/industry experience). Did not take GRE, and LORs were probably good as I knew all of my recommenders very well, but I trusted their judgement so I don't really know if they're considered "strong" or anything. No pubs (1 in preparation), several poster + oral presentations, and a handful of awards and research grants from my undergrad institution. Research interests in synthetic biology and metabolic engineering.
