disgruntledmoose Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I see people getting rejected who have 3.9+ GPAs, high GREs and Letters of Recommendation from top Professors at reputable institutions. I am in no way claiming all of those black people are unqualified. However this seemed like a concerted effort from Black in AI so it is likely black students got admitted with lower GPAs. This is unfair. evovae, d0lorezhaze, kleo and 3 others 6
disgruntledmoose Posted February 21, 2021 Author Posted February 21, 2021 I do not think it's ethically or legally right. Diversity is great and I am a proponent for it but black CS grads make up 7-8% so 15% is not normal. So they practiced overt affirmative action. kleo, d0lorezhaze, AnxiousBeaver and 2 others 5
mangobear Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 So black people can't have 3.9+ GPAs, high GREs and Letters of Recommendation from top Professors at reputable institutions? Why should there be a quota for how many people of a certain race or ethnicity should be admitted? What makes 15% "overt affirmative action"? evovae, Phdreamin, calizab and 3 others 3 3

Because that would put the blame on him/herself instead of others evovae 1
dr. t Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Oof, yeah, no, we're not doing this. I suggest you spend some time with yourself and figure out why something good happening to someone else feels like a personal assault. dobzhansky, d0lorezhaze, evovae and 3 others 2 4
